Ok then. What is a DDoS? Because it's still an unlawful tampering if a network.
English
-
Its called DDoS because they used BOTNET. Meaning, they had infected other un-protected computers (zombies) around the world with malware where it hides until instructed to do something. They didn't "hack" they overloaded the servers with so much traffic that it crashed. If your terminology is correct, every time I visit a website sending it traffic; than yes, I and everyone in the world is "hacking"
-
"Unlawful".
-
Not sure it's even unlawful. For it to be a crime, there has to be a victim. No one was hurt, no one had anything stolen, so it's hard to say there is a victim. They ate up bandwidth, hard to say it's criminal to do that. Very inconsiderate, but not unlawful.
-
Unauthorized, then.
-
Both are unlawful if it affects a corporate entities revenue, or harm to the image. But that's like saying car theft is the same as murder, while both are crimes they're carried out differently. Hacking isn't ddosing
-
Distributed Denial of Service. These kids should have been in jail a long time ago for that Sony Bomb threat fiasco. The Government doesn't care about it though lol.
-
But how is it achieved without "hacking"?
-
You can literally pay company's that have a wide Distributed network to DDOS IP addresses . Look up the definition of Hacking. Most of the time, people will run scripts that are on multiple computers to flood IP addresses with packets. That's not hacking. Anyone can do it. I COULD DO IT,but I don't feed off of other people's misery.
-
You use a bit of script to get a whole bunch of computers to repeatedly 'ping' whatever it is you're ddos'ing, under enough load, the target server will crash. It's not really a hack as you don't have to gain access to anything except knowing the ip of your target.
-
It's still hacking. Hacking is defined as the unlawful or unauthorized tampering of a network or device. Regardless of the means it is done.
-
Incorrect, Hacking V. "To cut or chop with repeated and irregular blows: "hacked down the saplings." My work here is done.
-
If you want want to call it hacking(it's not) that's fine. Calling these people hackers is like calling kindergarteners rocket engineers
