it's pathetic that Microsoft and Sony can't prevent hackers!
It's so damn pathetic that Microsoft and Sony can't prevent this hacking bullshit. Every time you get on Xbox or PlayStation the online gaming servers are always down! Seriously we pay $400 to $500 dollars on consoles and this is the shit we get?! Come the hell on now.

3 RepliesYou can't stop people from overloading servers. This isn't officially a hack but more so a ddos which is basically shoving so much stuff down the service that makes it do suicide.

4 RepliesI'm just wondering how positive everyone is that these attacks happened at all today? I'm in New York and connected to Xbox live this morning at my house, afternoon at my cousins and again at my house tonight. I don't doubt that the networks had gone down at some point, and I know lizard squad is taking credit. But I find it very weird that sony and Microsoft have not made any comments about the attacks( if they did please let me know). The only articles I see also have nothing but word of mouth about who caused the outage. The fact that millions of people either got Xbox/ps as a gift today, or any of hundreds of new games as gifts, seems like a much better reason for network problems. All those people trying to connect, sign up, update, and play games could probably cause some big network problems. And if networks go down, there's no guarentee people will be called in for overtime to fix it on a holiday(unlike if it was a power outage which is a bit more serious). I may be wrong but right now I'm drawing the conclusion that lizard squad is taking credit for something they did not do, and finest squad is the same as lizard squad. Microsoft and sony also decided not to give these groups publicity(which is what they desire) for something they did not do. Once again, I might be totally wrong. (Also sorry I posted about this on another thread, but realized it makes more sense here)

Not hacked its called ddos. For example say you have a highway. No matter how big the highway if you send enough cars down it then it will get jammed. The same happens with their servers but all of those cars arent going anywhere. They dont even have individual drivers. Just one person using bot nets to put all those cars there and take up the space real drivers need to use. End.

Just saw that Lizard Squad said their attacks ended about an hour ago, now it's maintenance from Xbox and PSN trying improve their firewall. Just things that I have heard. Take it for what it's worth.

Please note that DDOS is not a hack. To put it simply its basically sending a server way too much data it shuts down.

It's okay that the networks are down its only been 2 days for me! It just sucks that Sony/Microsoft haven't decided to apply filters to help weed out DDoS attacks. It's more annoying that a small group would be as so childish to stop the majority of the gaming community from gaming on Christmas Eve and Christmas

The problem is that its just a flood of traffic to a site so its designed to overload servers making them crash which us what hapoenned. Until they stop or access to the site is cut off it will continue to crash.
