• Should make a secondary post and see if people actually played the others.

  • Morrowind cause of exp system, less hand holding (ie no map markers), and you can kill anyone, even those important to quests. But the graphics haven't age well at all and combat is a joke lol. I really hope the next Elder Scrolls takes a more traditional route.

  • Played Oblivion since it was the first one on a console 3x and never got bored. But favorite is Skyrim just because it was that next step up. Only complaint though is the Dungeon level scaling wrecked late game run through.

    • Oblivion because it's combat was such an improvement from Morrowind. Would love to see a remake of Morrowind on console with Skyrim combat

    • Skyrim was nice, but didn't give you as much story as oblivion, but Oblivions combat system was hellish. Morrowwind though, that game was HUUUUUUUGE. Made it lose a lot of detail, but still that game was huge!

I loved Oblivion. Alot of people only say Skyrim because it's the only Elder Scrolls game they've been introduced to. If they played Morrowind and Oblivion, they'd know.

        • I love skyrim because it's so gigantic and gorgeous! Not to mention the fact that it implemented shouts as another way to kill your enemies!

        • I really hope you mean Daggerfall and not Redguard. That huge mistake will make elder scrolls fans (like myself) flip shit.

            • Morrowind will always be my favorite. I spent countless hours on that game when I was younger. It was the first game I got totally absorbed into and I would love if they made a next gem remake of it.

Oblivion can actually keep me there for over an hour without getting bored. Skyrim and the rest bore me super fast

            • Tough one. I've only ever played Oblivion and Skyrim. Oblivion was my first open world game, and it completely blew me away. I remember vividly escaping the sewers to see mountains in the distance, thinking "there's no way I can climb those, right?". My only other open world games were Zelda games. And even those weren't open world, on the same scale Elder Scrolls games are. I played the shit out of Oblivion. Night and day, for a long time. Every unique item, every quest done, every skill maxed, all achievements, more septims than I know what to do with, books, etc. Oblivion is probably my most played game BY FAR. And then I got it for PC. And oh buddy. The mods. The mods put extra life back into the game for me, and I'm still playing Oblivion to this day (just played it last week). Skyrim was everything Oblivion was to me, but better. The launch weekend, I stayed up for almost 48 hours playing the game. I've been playing the game off and on since release, and I still haven't done everything there is to do in that game. While Skyrim is absolutely massive and expands on Oblivion in all fronts for me, it won't hold that special place of being my first open world game.

Oblivion with Skyrim as a very close second. I think Oblivion was great because it wasn't as restrictive as Skyrim and honestly the colors just popped off the screen which gave life to the world. Skyrim was still a good game, and I really enjoyed the environment, but in retrospect I never really felt that Alduin was a real threat. He never seemed god-like, he just seemed like the alpha male of a bunch of dragons.

                  • Remember how cool morrowind was. Being thrown into a huge world with no real direction. Just going off and figuring things out for yourself.

Oblivion was absolutely captivating. Only reason Skyrim is winning the polls is because some people just hopped on the fan-wagon in 2011-Present Day. Most of which don't know jack shit about TES Lore.
