[BUNGIE] Solutions for Xbox One Re-downloading Update

[b][UPDATE 2/25/15] The 1.1.1 Update contains a fix for this issue. If you have not installed this update, please exit Destiny and re-launch to take the patch. If you are still encountering this issue after updating Destiny and following the troubleshooting guide, please let us know.[/b] [b][u]PLEASE NOTE:[/u] This post is ONLY for the Redownloading issue. Please do not post offtopic as it pushes down posts of people who are still experiencing this problem; players that do this will be removed from the thread.[/b] Hello all, We have been investigating the issue where Xbox One players experience a re-download of a 76mb update every time they play Destiny. We have a few troubleshooting options that [b]we highly recommend players attempt in the order we present them[/b]: [b]Check your internet connection[/b] Are you on a wired or wireless connection? If you are on WiFi or mobile hotspots, we recommend using a wired connection to complete your installation, as sometimes this update is due to the connection failing or hiccuping during the update. [b]Clear your cache[/b] Clearing the console's cache has been the most successful way of getting out of this state. Please see below for more information as there are [b]two ways[/b] to clear the cache on your console. Once it is cleared it will resume your update. -Launch Destiny on your console (Do not press A to play) -At the sign on screen (the screen that prompts you “Press A To Play”) press and hold the following buttons for ~10 seconds, or until the game launches : Right Bumper (RB) + Left Bumper (LB) + down on the dpad -[b]PLEASE NOTE:[/b] This button command should only be used on the “Press A To Play” screen OR -Completely shut your console off -Go to Settings -Go to Power & startup -Press Turn Xbox off -Once the console is completely off, unplug the power cord from the back of the console and let sit for ~5 minutes -Power the console on and re-launch Destiny [b]Re-launching the game after playing a different game[/b] This issue could also be caused by game installs overlapping each other on your hard drive. Sometimes this can be sorted by simply closing Destiny and launch a recently played game (that is NOT Destiny). Please follow the steps below: 1. Launch Destiny 2. Close Destiny 3. Launch recently played/downloaded game 4. Play for a bit (20-30 minutes is recommended) 5. Close recently played/downloaded game 6. Launch Destiny At this point, the update will pop up and follow through, and the issue should resolve. Players who own the disc copy of Destiny have reported that their issue resolved after borrowing a friend's disc and attempting the update, or cleaning the disc. We realize this issue can occur with digital copies, and this solution may not be ideal. [b]We are aware that these steps may not resolve this issue, and if none of these steps help then re-installing the game may work.[/b] Your progress and characters are saved server-side on your account, so you do not need to worry about losing progress if you uninstall. Please know that Bungie is investigating a report on people who cannot resolve this issue with the steps provided. We thank you for your patience as we investigate.

    • I uninstalled but now the game won't install again and my Xbox one gets bombarded with installation failed messages. Please fix hurriedly. I want to play destiny again. Halo and assassins creed can't distract me forever

      #Bungie you have got to fix this 76.87mb update re-installing constantly issue.... UGH... Ok, got bad news, getting the 76mb update again. Yesterday after the re-install, played 3 different times (logged in 3 seperate time throught the day) with out any wasp errors or the stupid 76mb update at all. Got up this morning and my son logs in and first thing off the bat 2 wasp errors at exactly 50% of the update. The third time the update finishs and he's playing. Why can't destiny see that the f'n update is already installed????? #Bungie read my post directly below this post.

      I finally had to try reinstalling Destiny. Althought the digital download was extremely extremely slow I have no more issues with the constant wasp and turtle errors. Also after 2 logins no more constant updating the 76.87MB update. This re-install at this point seem to have fixed the issues I was having. 3 Things I would like to mention if you are about to try this method. 1) If you have a digital version like I did you are looking at a very slow download. If you have the Disc. I would save a lot of install time by going off line in your network under settings. this will install you game in about 30-40 min. 2) At 1% download Destiny will say ready to play. [b] DO NOT TRY AND LOAD THE GAME [/b]at this point. It will try and install the dreaded 76.87 MB update first. I believe this will lead to more of the same errors. If you do accidentally select play, just hit start and select manage game and delete it again and reinstall (you are only at 1% download). Wait till it's 100% downloaded. 3) After it is 100% downloaded then install any add-ons you might have 1 at a time. I forgot to mention after install your add-ons when you start up Destiny you will get the 76.87 update and it should install smoothly. This so far seems to have fixed the issue for me. I will report back if any issues come up. I hope this helps others with their problems. Good Luck Guardians!!

        Every....single....time I want to play I have to go through this update. I've done everything you have suggested a side from putting tinfoil on my head and sacrficing my pets to the Destiny gods. This needs immediate attention and you need to compensate those affected by this in some way. I understand these things take time to fix, but we have all payed money for a product that is now broken.

        • This does not work for myself, nor my wife who have been playing on separate consoles, in the same room, at the same time, though we have both been doing this since the day Destiny launched. We love your game. We understand that these issues can be difficult to resolve and dealt with the launch glitches that we all experienced. I thought we were past that though. Instead of giving us generic reset/reconfiguration guidelines, please just give us an eta as to when you hope to resolve said issue. Thanks guys.

          • Well I've tried all of these, and it still doesn't work. I also tried factory restoring my Xbox, and still nothing. And to add onto that, after I factory restored my Xbox the 35$ dlc I had bought isn't available for download, and I'd have to buy it again. This is just absolutely frustrating.

            Re-installing seems to have solved it for me. Here the steps I followed: 1. Clear the cache 2. Uninstall the game from the internal storage 3. Download the game to the external storage 4. Wait for 100% download of the game, do not start at the "Ready to launch" message 5. Download add-ons 6. Launch Destiny 7. Download the 76.87MB update one more time. I haven't seen the update downloading since then. It used to happen every time I logged off /on.

          • Sorry bungie, that doesn't work for me either. Straight back to the wasp error .... and this is after I uninstalled and reinstalled and downloaded the 2 gb. I'm getting very frustrated with this game. Teach me a lesson to never buy bungie again why don't ya.

          • Where is our help or support or direct contact, I bought and xbox one specificly just to play destiny got the game the expansion pass and I go through all of these errors daily I even returned the video game before and bought it again a month later in the hopes that you would have it working appropriately. I work hard for my money and cant afford to just waste it on broken products thats like going out and paying for dinner just to not get your food and still be expected to pay. Your putting your reputation and future progress on the line by releasing a game that becomes more damaged daily and cant even give us a contact or support number for your next generation of game that seems like I spend more hours fixing errors then playing I bought a 200 dollar router for one error bought a aw edition xbox for max memory a 300 dollar set of turtle beach headphones the 300x's and literally even a new 65 inch to play it on ive been a fan since the retro days down to halo. And this is how you treat your customers. I am absolutely disappointed in this and the reputation you are giving your company name, and your customer support limited to reading walkthroughs that have a 35 percent success rate from what it appears on your forum below.

            • After all the xur disappoints, constant repetitive bounties from Xander AND NOW eris, added to the issues with connecting and all these effing error codes, I finally realized, you guys don't give a crap about your consumers! I have wasted hours and money on this game that I can't even play. I run home from work everyday, just fight to connect to a game that refuses to let me in. And all I get when I check the help thread on this forum is Bungie blaming all the issues on the consumers and telling us to unplug our Xbox, restart our routers, etc. to fix their issues. All of my other games work just fine. Only yours doesn't work. Why on earth would I need to change my whole game setup just to play this game?! I am done trying to grind to get into this game, only to be left grinding again when I finally get in the game for loot that I'll never receive. Screw this game.

              • I am also having a wasp error idk if this also addressed that but I figured I should say something one of the weirdest things about it Is how erratic the update is it will go from 0% all the way to 40% and then start going really slow. Or it will do other things in a similar way but in the end it will end up saying wasp usually when it jumps to 50%

                • I take my xbox to the living room and download the update with a wired connection. Shut off the xbox and then take it in the other room to play which is wireless. But when I try it makes me re download the update. How do I download the update and keep it downloaded so I don't have to keep re downloading it?

                • What happens if u do the button combo on a different screen? Nothing? Or does it delete something? you should warn us of the possible outcomes of these errors, people are people after all, sometimes we make mistakes.
