[UPDATE 2/25/15] The 1.1.1 Update contains a fix for this issue. If you have not installed this update, please exit Destiny and re-launch to take the patch. If you are still encountering this issue after updating Destiny and following the troubleshooting guide, please let us know.
PLEASE NOTE: This post is ONLY for the Redownloading issue. Please do not post offtopic as it pushes down posts of people who are still experiencing this problem; players that do this will be removed from the thread.
Hello all,
We have been investigating the issue where Xbox One players experience a re-download of a 76mb update every time they play Destiny. We have a few troubleshooting options that we highly recommend players attempt in the order we present them:
Check your internet connection
Are you on a wired or wireless connection? If you are on WiFi or mobile hotspots, we recommend using a wired connection to complete your installation, as sometimes this update is due to the connection failing or hiccuping during the update.
Clear your cache
Clearing the console's cache has been the most successful way of getting out of this state. Please see below for more information as there are two ways to clear the cache on your console. Once it is cleared it will resume your update.
-Launch Destiny on your console (Do not press A to play)
-At the sign on screen (the screen that prompts you “Press A To Play”) press and hold the following buttons for ~10 seconds, or until the game launches : Right Bumper (RB) + Left Bumper (LB) + down on the dpad
-PLEASE NOTE: This button command should only be used on the “Press A To Play” screen
OR
-Completely shut your console off
-Go to Settings
-Go to Power & startup
-Press Turn Xbox off
-Once the console is completely off, unplug the power cord from the back of the console and let sit for ~5 minutes
-Power the console on and re-launch Destiny
Re-launching the game after playing a different game
This issue could also be caused by game installs overlapping each other on your hard drive. Sometimes this can be sorted by simply closing Destiny and launch a recently played game (that is NOT Destiny). Please follow the steps below:
1. Launch Destiny
2. Close Destiny
3. Launch recently played/downloaded game
4. Play for a bit (20-30 minutes is recommended)
5. Close recently played/downloaded game
6. Launch Destiny
At this point, the update will pop up and follow through, and the issue should resolve.
Players who own the disc copy of Destiny have reported that their issue resolved after borrowing a friend's disc and attempting the update, or cleaning the disc. We realize this issue can occur with digital copies, and this solution may not be ideal.
We are aware that these steps may not resolve this issue, and if none of these steps help then re-installing the game may work. Your progress and characters are saved server-side on your account, so you do not need to worry about losing progress if you uninstall. Please know that Bungie is investigating a report on people who cannot resolve this issue with the steps provided. We thank you for your patience as we investigate.

I have been getting this overlapping update for months now, and nothing has changed. Every other day I would have to download this update at least 10 times before it works, which takes more than an hour. But lately i hit 50-60% and get the wasp error code, and it just wont update. Ive done everything you wrote, but sadly nothing works. I cant even log on now because every time I try I get an error code. I really enjoy playing destiny but because of this persistent wasp error code this game is no longer playable for me. Maybe one day Bungie will fix this consent update, but I'm not holding my breath, after all this has been happening for months and months now. I guess its time to jump back into Battlefield 4, at least this is a playable game, unlike Destiny.

Still. Getting. This. Error.
-
Not cool a month later and I'm STILL getting wasp error code when trying to download an update I've already gotten three times over.
-
Man you guys are quick to fix the raid exploits but months later still having NETWORK connect issues. Come on man!!!
-
I have been getting this 76mb update for over a month now and have done everything you have said. I have even completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times now and still nothing. I have updated it over WiFi and direct connect. I get to about 60% then I get error code wasp. This is soooo frustrating. I have lost it. I don't know what to do anymore. I just want to smash my disc and never play this game again. Please fix this.

USB update image !!! Here you go bungie ... a challenge for you to prove your usual "Check your internet connection" blame game. How about; - you make a USB image available. - we download it via a PC, validate checksum etc - we then use that image (no network involved) If/When the patch still does not work perhaps you can start claiming "Check your USB device". Simple idea ... would prove your point ... seems obvious.

Constant wasp error, can't even download the update... this is fun
-
Played earlier today, now I can't because I keep getting the same update and it never finishes; always ends on 50% and then gives me a wasp error. Tried everything suggested, nothing works. Seems like this has been a problem for weeks. And it still hasn't been fixed?
-
Tried everything and still no luck :/ just get wasp Everytime

Edited by ケイ: 1/14/2015 6:41:53 AMThis is ridiculous, downloading this update twice, back to back. Downloaded update, get kicked out of a game, downloading update again. Are you serious?! Takes 20mins to download this crap, if I don't get any wasp errors...
-
Edited by MineCow: 1/17/2015 2:28:25 AMBungie, you shold have the option to update the game via "games & apps" you pick the (back button) and have the option to install update, so you don't need to do it within the game. Not sure if it would work, (sever wise) but would love to have the option. (i don't think u guys might know what am talking/thinking about) P.S. love destiny and been spending a lot of time into this game, even bought DLC. :( Thanks for reading this bungie(if u read it).

I have found that this update does not happen all the time, but I have found a cause that seems to force the update. If you accidentally start destiny up an then immediately press the home button an close the game down before it's loaded up, you will then get this update. I don't know if this can be fixed or not but it can be avoided. I've tried an tested this an its 100% the cause.
-
Got it again today... Just posting everytime I get this update
-
pipebombgts xbox one wired open nat configured this issue has been happening for over a week for me and not 1 single thing you guys have suggested has worked....really questioning my decision to purchase this game seeing as its unplayable. nothing i do fixes the fact that i get a wasp error every time i try and download this update =/
-
Seems like I'm getting this every other day, coincidence?...

Edited by Peace, Harbinger of Chaos: 1/10/2015 9:00:09 PMI LOST MY DLC. YOU #%$&^# !!!!! I will not pay twice for the DLC I bought it on the 360. Then I upgraded to the X1. The DLC loaded for me. Then there were graphics issues. The shaders I pre-ordered on COD didn't work anymore on X1. And the drop ships were invisible. Then this afternoon when I logged on, I re-installed Destiny. and my DLC is gone. I will just return my X1 and copy on Destiny and move on. Oh and I will return the OD AW on X1 I just bought. I am done with Activision. chartley34@aol.com I still have my armor, and weapons, but I am sure they will find a way to screw me on that too.

Edited by Viral_Assassin8: 1/12/2015 2:25:24 PMHello Bungie. I doubt anyone has posted on this specific topic more than I. This is my fifth time needing to find this forum topic and as you know (because you read the responses) that I've been Un able to even accsess Destiny. Before I go to the trouble of leaving my specs I'll let you know what week has consisted of to just try and play the game I bought from you guys and done everything suggested. First 3 days of the week we're spent cache clearing, port forwarding, modem resting, calls to the ISP, calls to IT friends, calls to you (if you had a number to call), phone calls to Microsoft about xbox live, and I also powered down everything completely for one of those days. The last four days of the week were spent uninstalling your game (as per your recommendation) and installing it again...twice. Let me she'd some light...IT TOOK TWO DAYS PER DOWNLOAD and would you like to know the result of these? I still get wasp. Wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp wasp. I'm not going to be asking no money back. I'm kindly demand it. I can not play your game and you are not offering anything to fix so our business is done. That is the line. If I find can not play your game for more then 4 months? That's ridiculous! Outrageous! Many other descriptive words! None of this would be a problem if you just solve the problem....like really? You have been notified by thousands of customers about this (months ago I might add ,almost how long Destiny has been out) , customers that can't even play your "working" game. If it works, prove it. Show me on my console that Destiny can and will work. Console : Xbox One Connection type : Wifi Gamer tag : viral assassin8 I hope you fix this, not for me but for you. The future of this game I'm grumbling around you and you guys are having cold feet or some sort of panic attack and your doing nothing. YOU HAVE THE WORST REVIEWS OUT THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. LITERALLY HUGE PORTIONS OF GAMERS (NOT EVEN JUST DESTINY GSMERS) DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A COMPANY OF YOUR STATUS COULD NOT ONLY RUIN A GAME SO BAD, BUT INSULT AND ABANDON EVERYONE (NOT JUST YOU SELF, NOT JUST DESTINY GAMERS) AND ALL FORMS OF COMMUNICATION AND REFUSE TO EXPLAIN WHY YOU NAILED AN EGG TO THE WALL.
-
Did bungie really just tell you to play a game besides destiny? O.o
-
Got it again today but before it could even download, I keep getting the wasp error. Looks like I won't be playing today...
-
The clear cache work ed for me. Thanks
