[UPDATE 2/25/15] The 1.1.1 Update contains a fix for this issue. If you have not installed this update, please exit Destiny and re-launch to take the patch. If you are still encountering this issue after updating Destiny and following the troubleshooting guide, please let us know.
PLEASE NOTE: This post is ONLY for the Redownloading issue. Please do not post offtopic as it pushes down posts of people who are still experiencing this problem; players that do this will be removed from the thread.
Hello all,
We have been investigating the issue where Xbox One players experience a re-download of a 76mb update every time they play Destiny. We have a few troubleshooting options that we highly recommend players attempt in the order we present them:
Check your internet connection
Are you on a wired or wireless connection? If you are on WiFi or mobile hotspots, we recommend using a wired connection to complete your installation, as sometimes this update is due to the connection failing or hiccuping during the update.
Clear your cache
Clearing the console's cache has been the most successful way of getting out of this state. Please see below for more information as there are two ways to clear the cache on your console. Once it is cleared it will resume your update.
-Launch Destiny on your console (Do not press A to play)
-At the sign on screen (the screen that prompts you “Press A To Play”) press and hold the following buttons for ~10 seconds, or until the game launches : Right Bumper (RB) + Left Bumper (LB) + down on the dpad
-PLEASE NOTE: This button command should only be used on the “Press A To Play” screen
OR
-Completely shut your console off
-Go to Settings
-Go to Power & startup
-Press Turn Xbox off
-Once the console is completely off, unplug the power cord from the back of the console and let sit for ~5 minutes
-Power the console on and re-launch Destiny
Re-launching the game after playing a different game
This issue could also be caused by game installs overlapping each other on your hard drive. Sometimes this can be sorted by simply closing Destiny and launch a recently played game (that is NOT Destiny). Please follow the steps below:
1. Launch Destiny
2. Close Destiny
3. Launch recently played/downloaded game
4. Play for a bit (20-30 minutes is recommended)
5. Close recently played/downloaded game
6. Launch Destiny
At this point, the update will pop up and follow through, and the issue should resolve.
Players who own the disc copy of Destiny have reported that their issue resolved after borrowing a friend's disc and attempting the update, or cleaning the disc. We realize this issue can occur with digital copies, and this solution may not be ideal.
We are aware that these steps may not resolve this issue, and if none of these steps help then re-installing the game may work. Your progress and characters are saved server-side on your account, so you do not need to worry about losing progress if you uninstall. Please know that Bungie is investigating a report on people who cannot resolve this issue with the steps provided. We thank you for your patience as we investigate.

Psn users are also still having problems obtaining the download for the season pass after redeemed from code

Clearing my cache does jack, but I'll start up another game (that hopefully works) and see if that fixes the Destiny bug.
-
If i do the button combination, should it down load the update again or is it not working?
-
If I reinstall the game, will I lose all my content?
-
Always wired connection, cleared my cache, played a different game, and even re-installed(which took a whole day)... still having this problem. Hope you guys are getting to the bottom of this, soon.
-
Thanks for the assistance bungie but non of them worked so I will attempt the third method in hopes of work if not than I guess Netflix all day haha. Don't worry bungie you haven't lost me yet I've been playing since day one and I understand the programing and complaints you constantly go through. So thank you for supporting us from destiny community :)
-
Yes. Restarting destiny worked for me. Thanks bungie.
-
Tried all of this. Nothing works. Big surprise. You have a lot of unhappy customers bungie, merry Christmas to you too.

Edited by Caelan63: 12/27/2014 1:20:27 PMIf I uninstall the game and reinstall it do you promise everything I have will still be there? I have no option to go to wire. I have to stay wireless. I'm also not moving my xbox one to somewhere else to connect to some wire I don't have. I've tried. The button pushing (which only lead to me...downloading the update. and then this morning...I downloaded the update). I tried unplug option. I've already done the play a different game thing and that doesn't work.
-
I've tried uninstalling at least 5 times and reinstalling. Then I get wasp. Every time. At 90% completion? WHY WOULD YOU EVEN NAME CODES AFTER ANIMALs???
-
This has been an issue since the patch went live on THE 11TH Of DECEMBER and you choose CHRISTMAS EVE to acknowledge that there is a problem? It's LONG past time you got your crap together Bungie.
-
Well maybe youo morons should started by fixing your shit. Everyone here followed your instruction and it doesnt work , youre stupid game wont let me do anything because it need a 70mb update that it cant get since the problem is at your end. Why cant we just buy a game a play as it always been in the past....or why cant you deseign a game that has no issues to start with so it wont need update every god damn day!... You guys may have been great at one point .... But you falling down....FAST.

Hey Bungie, wake up. I took the game two days ago hoping to pass me the holidays playing Destiny, 2 days of mistakes and problems, if I knew that there were certain problems I spent the money on candy. I reported back to Gamestop since it can only be used as an ornament.
-
Haven't been able to get on since 8pm yesterday. Still trying to download the 76mb update and then gives a wasp error code after jumping to 50%. Xb1 network connections test says I'm good there. I really shouldn't have to re-download a game because it can't determine what's already been downloaded and what hadn't. Maybe this is the reason you would implement an offline mode so people can at least do something. I don't need to be connected to run bounties or collect materials. It should be able to catch up progress once connected again. Thanks Bungie/New Christmas players for putting a damper on my holiday season. Nothing like coal in the stocking.

Same for clean install..... Error and update again.

Absoulte pure crap, been sittin nearly two fu*kin hours and its wreaked my fuking x mas day. Cheers lad down at bungie, well appricate it.

Did not work for me! Still getting WASP error!

After trying all these solutions I'm still getting update re-installations. I've noticed that when it happens it is usually preceded by me having to quit the game or clear my cache because I get an infinite loading screen at start up. Then the next time the game is started up it starts re-installing updates. I would have no problem with this if it was not for the fact that I use a hotspot for my main gameplay. I use a hardwired land line connection at someone else's house for the installations because the hotspot gives me the wasp error code when trying to install. A 100% working solution would be very appreciated. I've had to re-install the updates every day for the past 5 days with only about 3 hours of gameplay before having to re-install after a fresh install. I'm trying a complete system reset tomorrow(having to re-install over 1-TB of data) it is the last play in my book.

The update comes up but when I'm in game the game kicked me out

Banjo and caterpillar errors all the way!!!

Edited by Elocnam: 12/23/2014 11:14:24 PMWhen I get achievements for destiny, I have to get an error code for them to count. Such as yesterday I got the 100 crucible marks in a week, do I should have gotten the achievement. Then today I got an error code, and once I went to orbit I got the said achievement. Can someone help me with this please? Also. I am on Xbox One

Yeah, so I've tried everything you've told me, and it's downloading right in front of me for the 7th time since DLC release. Unplugged console last night for 20 minutes. Even manually cleared locally saved games. Even had it running just fine earlier today. Closed the game. Didn't turn my console off. Played Shadow of Mordor for about 30 minutes. Closed game. Waited about 30 more minutes. Started Destiny - jumped straight into downloading ~78MBs of update. This is not on my end.
