Spent 23 Motes of light for Exotic helmet engram and this is what I get!?
I know you might say "Nothing can be done" but for gods sake it took me a long time to collect the motes and I finally can afford something from Xur. After decoding the engram I receive a helmet for a Hunter. I've only ever used a Warlock so this has not only become useless, I can't get my motes back. I can prove this with a screen shot. I am sure I can't be the first one with this issue but I can tell you this made my experience take a turn for the worst.

I think you're looking at this the wrong way. I think you should reflect on the image and teachings of RNGesus. My son, if you truly love him and hold him as your god and savior he will answer your prayers. Go forth and repent, in time and in love, your prayers will be answered. And when that day comes you will realize just how much RNGesus loves you. Now go, reflect, repent, and love thy god and savior.

I mean it does clearly say (Random Class) on the engram. You roll, you roll. My warlock had the same fate for weeks and then i decided to make one of each character so no matter what i get, it can be useful. Just some SGA.

Nothing else to roll motes on. Why not. I don't mind chance in some aspects of this game. But it's kinda stupid that everything is chance.

You have two more character slots, make a hunter so you can use the helmet and earn motes faster

1 ReplyWelcome to destiny. Motes are worthless besides the chance at the engram. In due time you'll treat motes and coins as extra crap to store in your tiny inventory.

Engrams are a gamble, everyone knows this, don't like it then don't gamble, but luck can happen, I bought one exotic helm engram from Xur before he left turned it in and got the skull of dire ahamkara! Was stoked.

Just think of it as a really expensive Exotic Shard, that might take the pain away. BTW, if you Nightfall every Tues. it is extremely easy to get Motes from the XP boost for the week.

Hey I backed a horse and it fell at the first hurdle! Can I get my money back? What? No? But that's not fair! ☺ ( just messing it does say for random class in description! When it happened to me I just made a warlock! )

It's called gambling. Sometimes you win, more often you will lose. I had the same thing happen to me shortly after release. Needed gear for my hunter. Got gear for a warlock. So I rolled a warlock. Happy ending eventually. Start praying to RNGesus now. Complaining will only make your luck worse. On a related note. I bought 3 helmet engrams from xur the first Friday after TDB. Got a new exo helm for all 3 classes. My luckiest moment to date in destiny.

An exotic shard for 23 notes is a good deal, if you're lucky you'll get two

I bought an engram last weekend got a warlock helmet and I only use Titan/hunters so i dismantled it and got some glimmer and an exotic shard and I'm fine with that

1st toon: Hunter. decoding gives me titan gear, including Armentarium and No Back Up Plans 2nd toon: Titan. decoding gives me warlock gear, including Sunbreakers and Light Beyond Nemesis TWICE! I got LBN 1.0 and 2.0 LOL 3rd toon: Warlock. decoding gets me Hunter gear, including Lucky Raspberry 2.0 and Mask of the Third Man. All of this just means you need to roll a new character haha. That or you have shards to upgrade other exotics, whichever you want.

The engram says RANDOM CLASS for a reason.

I bought 5 helm engrams in hopes of getting the helm I want and i didn't get it. That's the way this damn RNG works. Get used to it. If you know you will never use the helm just dismantle it for the exotic shard and move on.

I just got Dragons Breath in nightfall. Yesterday I got Patience and Time from Legendary engram, couple days before I got Vex and last week I got No Land Beyond 😏

Your probably going to have to get used to that. I tried to get saint 14 helm for 2 months and then hit 2 n one day. Everybody is always waiting on something.

Same here. I got a Titan helmet. I'm just happy that when my Titan finally gets to 20 he has a helmet with 30 light on already

It says right in the description of the engram it is a random class reward. You knew what you were getting. Random. If you didn't bother to read it that's your own fault.

This is the reason to have all 3 chars. When the DLC dropped I bought 2 helmets engrams with my Warlock. I got 1 hunter helmet and 1 titan helmet. No probs for me!
