Efrideet's Spear vs Black Hammer
I just bought Efrideet's Spear and rerolled it to get field scout (you only get 3 bullets in the mag without it), also got surplus and outlaw on as well. It seems to me that it is the highest impact sniper in the game. I don't have Black Hammer yet, so I still can't compare it to that. Can anyone tell me if Black Hammer has a higher impact? Which would you prefer?

Pve it depends...BH for boss fights where you can score three critical hits. Efrideets spear for all other pve situations with good roll (e.g. Field scout/reload/firefly). I personally switch between the two, using Efrideets 90% of the time...

I rolled Void Surplus- ammo everywhere Switch between Field Scout and +2 Agility Final Round. I like my roll in particular because it has freed my exotic spot so I rarely need Ice Breaker with all the ammo Field scout and Surplus gives me. Plus I like that it does the highest damage especially Final Round. Black Hammer is also a go to gun. Ideal for almost every strike boss, walker, tank, Atheon, Colossus Majors. Switch to spear when I am fighting Omnigul or clearing adds.

My spears are rolled for PvP, so i made sure t hey have ap rounds and final round with a tac or ambush scope. For me BH is hands down pve only, and it does a wonderful job of it.

Got my spear with void damage, spray and play, perfect balance, field scout, snapshot, and final round. This sniper wrecks in both pvp and pve because it has the same impact as black hammer but does hell damage every third round. IMO it's much more versatile because it can be re-rolled as many times as you want to make it perfect and doesn't have to worry about scoring constant crits to get it's bonuses. Sure the hammer is cool but unless your fighting huge bosses you likely wont get to take advantage of white nail anyway. The spear also beats icebreaker in every way except ammo regeneration. Being legendary allows you to free up a exotic slot and still have a range option.

4 RepliesYah I rerolled the Spear 20+ times to get it perfect, fast reload when mag is empty and last round does bonus damage (which is 1/3 of each clip!). This is matched with snapshot/overpenetrating rounds/higher stability. Along with two quick aim scopes and a medium scope. Only thing that I wanted that I didn't get was the dense rounds that let you carry more in reserve... This sniper has the same impact as The Black Hammer, but considering you can reroll it for your style it is arguably better... well I wouldn't mind black hammers special perk, but I'm not a fan of mulligan. I'm curious what did other people go for with their sniper? What perks did you try to get?

Blackhammer for strike bosses is all it's good for. The Spear with the right roll can be a perfect sniper.. Mine? Void Damage Rodeo Field Scout Clown Cartridge (This with Field Scout has given me 8 in the chamber) I now have a super high impact sniper with great stability that can have 8 bullets in the chamber to replace my Praedyths Revenge. This surpasses my Blackhammer in most instances. I'll only break out the Blackhammer for boss fights now. Otherwise.. PVE: Icebreaker > Spear > Blackhammer > P&T PVP: Spear > P&T > Blackhammer > Icebreaker (Did not include Praedyths Revenge due to Spear surpassing it)

Black hammer is your go to for bosses, hits harder than icebreaker and has unlimited arrow if you're landing crits which is easier with bosses. Normal mobs the ice break or the praedyths are great because of firefly. The spear in my opinion is the best upgrade from the praedyths but the hammer hits like a truck

Black Hammer for PvE, its a boss killing beast and insta reloads with 3 precision shots and doesn't even use your ammo. Efrideet's Spear idk, and frankly don't care as it doesn't have that beast of an ability and it having the highest impact doesn't do much good either as any sniper in the game is a OHK head shot or 2HK body shot in PvP regardless. Not to mention in PvE you might as well just equip Ice Breaker and have unlimited ammo.

3 RepliesI think the raid sniper is the best sniper for bosses. If you land three Crits in a row your ammo regens straight into the magazine and can essentially fire non stop as long as you keep getting Crits. For example we took down the walker in about a minute, the Goliath tank in about 30 seconds and I got 27 critical hits in a row on the archon priest without having to reload. I think they should have called it the boss killer

2 RepliesBlack Hammer and SPear have both the exact same Impact. Bought 3 of those, arc and solar whit scout/dps perks Trying to get the a void whit scout perk now. Tested on Atheon yesterday... weapon of lights + last round. You dont want to know for how much it crits :P

Impacts the same. Black Hammer has a lot higher stability but a bit less range and a noticeable slower reload. What really sets it apart is its White Nail perk (landing 3 shots refills mag). I don't have the Iron Banner sniper but I'm telling you Black Hammer is a complete monster if you can consistently hit shots, because then you'll never have to reload.

2 Repliesi rerolled mine and got firefly, reduces the severity of the recoil, and field scout... also i got lucky and the scope i got as the first stage is super long rang and almost maxes out the range, it has to be 95-98% out of 100%. check it out i have it equipped on my titan right now, and it trumps the ice breaker in every way except the ammo regen
