Why in the name of Dregen Yor does everyone want Gjallarhorn?
I know it's a great rocket launcher and all, but shoot a chump with any rocket and he will go boom. The cluster(-blam!-)bomb perk is cool, but is it really worth the exotic spot in your arsenal? I personally go with Thorn or another primary. If you're gonna pick an exotic, may as well pick one you will be using all the time.
Nice to get other people's opinion. Never knew how much people value their heavies and much as their primaries. Nice to get all the intel. Unfortunately most of the intel is fanboys defending their weapon who's sole argument is, "It's just the best gun. You wouldn't understand." Well no -blam!-ing shit I wouldn't understand if you don't tell me why Gjallarhorn deserves it's place in my Eoxtic Arsenal.
P.S. I have Gjallarhorn.

It takes down Crotas shields hard mode with 3 rocket. meaning 2 people with gjally and a sword bearer could essentially beat Crota hard. Maybe a 4th for boomer duty. It killed omnigul in nightfall in like 7 rockets with her shield down. 3 people killed her in the hallway before the final fight with it, and found out they still had to fight her again. Kills minotaurs an praetorians in one hit in vault of glass hard and normal. And two shots ogres in the abyss. 3 shots the hallowed ones across bridge in hard mode I believe. 3 or 2 hit kills sword bearer on hard mode. It can one shot boomers in the boomer tower tho that's irrelevant. Kills one shrieker on normal Crota raid in one hit. It wrecks a lot of the major enemies that are hard to take down with other weapons, and quick too. Which is why I use it for everything pve. Thorn is my go to for pvp.

I only want it so I can say I have it. Every raid group will accept me, but I won't ever use it. Icebreaker is too core to my guardians' identities to be bogged down by an over hyped rocket launcher.

3 RepliesI know its a dead post but I agree with Nemesis. I would rather have my Hawkmoon which is used constantly. The GHorn I would only use on those rarest of foes or a horde of enemies. It may have the single strongest hit but I'm too stingy with my heavy ammo to make it worth my exotic slot. That and the Hawkmoon is arguably the best Hand cannon in the game (Best gun period in my opinion but I'm newish)

It does more than double the damage of any other rocket launcher. The Wolf rounds do ALOT of damage

Honestly the perks and damage types on raid primaries make them better then the exotic primaries. I usually run fate bringer, supremacy or PR, and ghorn. Makes for a crazy load out.

The wolfpack rounds do more damage than the blast itself. Its like two rockets evert time you shoot and they track any and everything

3 RepliesNow that I have a maxed hunger of crota, I don't miss not having the gjally anymore. Sure I'd still like it eventually but now I have a beast of a rocket launcher that I can use along the side with my ice breaker.

6 RepliesI agree with you. I actually did want the G-horn for a while then I realized there are purples that are just good if not better. The people that are saying it lowers Crota's shield in 2 shots are right but the Hunger of Crota rocket launcher does the same before its fully upgraded also the Hezen Vengence can lower it in 3 but how many shots it takes doesn't matter all the much because your team mates shooting too.

Ghjallahorn has almost everything you need in a rocket launcher. Good velocity, blast radius, amazing reload speed, 2 rockets per magazine, 5 shots total, AND tracking.... Truth actually has it beat in all of these aspect. The difference is Wolfpack rounds. Wolfpack rounds do more damage to the target than a direct rocket hit... Let that sink in... You're basically firing two rockets at once per shot. It's the hardest hitting weapon in this game currently by a wide margin. If you need to do massive damage in a small window of time then Ballerhorn is the end-all be-all weapon. Whatever you shoot at gets destroyed. Even against Praetorians it's better than Truth... Despite Truth being a void launcher... Again, kinda ridiculous. Now, Truth is actually a very good rocket launcher, but you have to use it for a while to appreciate it. But because it's an exotic and so blatantly overshadowed by Ghjallahorn nobody uses Truth in PvE, so it's mainly a Crucible launcher. Ghjallahorn's only real competition is Hunger of Crota, which tracks and has unguided cluster bombs. But again, even maxed out Ghjallahorn STILL does more damage to a hive Ultra/Major than Hungrt of Crota, even with most of the cluster bombs hitting. It's not a huge difference, but it's still noticeable. Hunger of Crota doesn't cost an exotic slot, so if you wanna carry Icebreaker or Mythoclast it's a viable substitute.

3 RepliesI agree with you. I think exotics are more useful in other slots, mainly the secondary slot though. First, any legendary heavy is going to do a lot of damage, and on a side note, I use machine guns because they carry more ammo and are much more versatile. Exotics in the secondary slot can increase dps and complement your style of playing and carry more ammo. Heavies are not used enough and have too little ammo to warrant using an exotic in this slot.

The damage output is crazy. Plus it looks incredible. I have an 'old' Hawkmoon and it's only marginally better than TDYK (heck, is it even better, it just looks better). In Gjallarhorn case, it's miles ahead the competition. The new raid rocket launcher looks sick though. BTW, I'm pissed that I still never got a freaking G-Horn after all that time I played.

G horn is by far the best for a exotic slot it has the highest burst damage in the game and. When you have fatebringer and light of the abyss the only time I even toy with changing my g horn is when I need to snipe

For PvP Truth craps all over Ghorn, but the latter is in a league of its own when it comes to the raids.

Thing is in my opinion most exotic primary weapons are 10-20% better than their legendary counterparts. Based on their unique perks and overall damage dealing capacity. The gjallarhorn is 300% more effective at pure damage than any other rocket launcher in the entire game. And now that I have black hammer, I don't need to use ice breaker all the time. So gjallarhorn all the way.
