Almost all the faction gear is *new* stuff, not just updated as it has new names/stats. You can tell the difference because it has a 1 in the corner. You do not need the DLC to get those weapons (except the raid weapons / murmur). In fact, if you go back and read the updates Deej will tell you the same thing. I ran the Nightfall this week with a friend that hadn't got around to buying the DLC yet because of troubles at home, he got No Land Beyond which is an exotic that came with the DLC. Also, the first people to get the Husk of the Pit were trial users, they also didn't have the DLC.
