how did you beat the PVP thorn bounty?
I've got it at the moment and I literally cannot do it. Not because of a lack of skill or anything it's because I've got no void weapons. Apart from truth but I can't do a whole game with that can I? And I'm a hunter so no void for me. What did you use for the thorn bounty?
I want to get Atheons Epilogue.
But I'll probably end up using a blue fusion rifle/shotgun.
Tried it using a green fusion rifle I bought from gunsmith but it was absolute bullshit. It never 1hkd anyone. So -blam!-ing frustrating.
And I bought the void mg and like it so far.

I have the epilogue maxed out but its so unstable good luck. I also have zombie apocalypse and the vog raid machine gun. In 2 rounds last night I was able to get 94-500 needed points. Be patient act like your team sucks (they probably do) so run around in a group and try to steal everyones kills lol. And use that machine gun like a boss! I had 2 10 kill streaks last night that to help. Basically quit sucking.

1 ReplyAetheon's Epliogue, Dead Orbit Fusion Rifle and the Truth. I found that Control was not ideal and switched to Clash. I baited my teammates a lot, camped the heavy drops, took about 4 hours over 2 days. It wasn't my proudest moment but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Just did this last night using 77 wizard. IMO the best way is to use a void fusion rifle with high impact and stability (purifier is a good one, though not sure if its available in void) to make OHKs easier and void rocket launcher with proximity detonation. Play control and pick one area of the map that is conducive to your weapon selection. Fusion rifles thrive in maps like firebase delphi, but struggle anywhere with long sight lines and plenty of cover. Drop what you're doing and get heavy ammo every chance you get. And lastly if you're in a game where your team is clearly outmatched, leave. No sense in prolonging your misery and frustration by getting supered and rocketed left and right.

Atheons Ep, A good void fusion, and corrective measure. The CM is most important, have the field scout perk and and always be close to the HEAVY AMO drop.

Edited by ebby: 12/18/2014 5:42:46 PMHonestly, it's a dumb bounty. I've done it a few times now and here's how I would suggest they adjust it so it isn't so unforgiving. Instead of rewarding 3 or 5 or however many points for kill and subtract 1 per death, they should give you a pool of about 5 points or so in a "bank" you get a kill and those 5 points are added to the bounty and you get a new "bank" of 5. Every death subtracts 1 from the bank until there is 1 left, you get a kill, you get that 1 or 2 or however many are in that bank, and then the bank resets to 5 again. This way progress is indeed only slowed and there isn't regression.

I did mine with a void fusion rifle. I think it was even a rare one. I just played control and camped at the flags that we held and played defense. It didn't take that long. Don't try an be a hero by pushing to other control points. Stay behind teammates and you should be able to get this done in about 10 matches.

Void walker with void shotgun and rocket launcher. I didn't have a void primary at the time, but the grenades and melee made up for that.

With a Titan I used the armamentium (x2 grenades) with sticky void grenades, combo that with primary void weapon and truth.

Back pre-TDB I bought "The Comedian" Void shotty from the Vanguard gun Vendor. It made short work of that part, Xyor was a pain to find a group for.

My last couple of times I completed the bounty I had void weapons coming out of my Atheon, but the first time I was a bit like you. No primary void, but I had legendary void sniper and swarm machine gun - which was excellent, btw. But my main void killer was a level 20 blue Dammerung FR5 fusion rifle. It worked the best of the blue ones I experimented with. In the non-IB Crucible, lower level weapons can do fine because of the level advantage being turned off - their high impact actually helps. For example, the only legendary that can compare to the impact of some of the green hand cannons is Timur's Lash. To get a blue void fusion, try to play the strike playlist (26 if you can manage it). It is now dropping some very good new blue weapons that are up to 294 Attack levels. Check out #thornyguardians; I have a post there describing how even a bad pvp player can overcome the bounty (because I have 3 times and I am not good). Or you could just do bounties and strikes until you have enough marks to buy a legendary fusion; the vanguard QM may have one (not sure atm).

I had a void shotgun/sniper as a secondary and had truth for my special weapon. I felt bad while doing this because I would grab heavy ammo whenever it spawned and get as many rocket kills as I could. The other team probably hated my guts. Truth really helped with this the lock on feature made it deadly accurate

Had a blue shotty and rocket launcher. Got lucky on a 42 and 5 run. Not that it helps much but that's how I did it haha

I bought an uncommon void shotgun from the gunsmith. I ran none stop and it took me 1 hour and 6 control matches. A buddy did the camping with shotty
