Selling goods at false exchange rates is against the law.

As i am from the United Kingdom, i have to pay £20 for the DLC on its own and £35 for the season pass. Whereas those from the United States have to pay $20 for the DLC and $35 for the season pass. It seems that what Bungie/Activision should be charging us for the DLC in £ should be: £12.73 for the DLC. £22.29 for the season pass. This is just a bid for Bungie/Activision to make more money out of people purely because of their location. These prices have been calculated to be accurate to the real exchange rate of $ to £. http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/brighton-hove/con1item.cgi?file=*adv1011-1111.txt In the first paragraph of this link, it clearly states that "Trading Standards can take action against any trader for leaving out information about how the price or how it is calcuated." Seeling goods at false exchange rates is against the law. Action will be taken against you.

    • There is a law where certain goods are at a higher or lower price depending on where it is sold. That's why you guys get charged more. It sucks I think But also you make more money than us lol

    • Bungie is a US based company. The US smoked the UK in the Crucible event known as the "American Revolution." Charging you higher prices for games is but one of our many rewards for winning.

      • Come to Canada. Friendly neighbours to the U.S. And we get hammered 20-40% more for the same goods, excluding exchange rate conversion. It based on tariffs, import/regional taxes and location.

You obviously don't know much about business, and this post is completely pointless. There are tariffs and other potential fees when selling certain goods to another country. These are likely added to the total price. We don't know what went on behind closed doors to know exactly what costs are from where. You should be complaining to your government, if you have issues with their International trading policies.

Not against the law to set different prices based on factors. Some factors have been decided as illegal such as race, gender etc. international location is not one of them to my understanding. Darn brits are always so litigious!

          • It seems strange though. This isn't like any other international trade case, in that the goods being sold overseas aren't physical. Do trade laws apply to content delivered digitally? If you downloaded the expansion from a local server then I would assume that it is a domestic transaction, no?

Sounds like you could use some freedom. As an American, I would be happy to oblige. The only choice you have to make is the delivery system. I prefer airdropped

            • Wouldn't this only hold true if they were claiming the UK prices were conversions of US prices, and not a separate more expensive charge for the same content.

              • Sue them. See how far you get.
A lawyer would charge you more for just listening to your complaint than it would cost you to buy a new console, Destiny, and the season pass
• Selling at false exchange rates is illegal but price discrimination between countries usually isn't. They never actually claimed to be selling at prices set by exchage rates.

              • International financial 101 bro... do you even finance? Read a little monetary tariffs change. Let me ask you something: If you sell shoes at £20 in your area, but you want to sell them in USA lets say it will cost you £8 for shipment... would you still sell them at £20 or would you go mayb £30 - £32 and make a profit instead of a loss

OMG. Another one of these. It's trade tariffs enforced by your government. Go complain to them. Bungie has nothing to do with it.

                • Sorry sir, but this isn't "false exchange rates". It's the same reason why I go across the border to the US to buy beer, because it is much cheaper there, even after Canadian-American dollar conversion (about 33% cheaper on average).
