Bungie...you have a great opportunity here! Why would you not make the Iron Banner an exciting time in Destiny?
First off, we can't upgrade our Iron Banner weapons? Wth? Please at least apologize to all of us who busted our tail and wasted all that time to achieve these rewards. Not to mention the constant nagging from wives, all for nothing it seems.
We all know that the only way to get to 32 is to obtain raid gear playing PVE. The Iron Banner is the perfect format to offer those that don't like or can't do raids all the time, the same chance to obtain raid gear. I mean the game is called DESTINY...I should be able to reach 32 through PVP or PVE in my opinion, but both being equally challenging.
As a 31 Hunter, nothing in the IB (Iron Banner) is appealing to a wide majority of us. The best thing about it seems to be the sweet looking sniper, but I'm not about to work my tail off for days just to spend over 11k in glimmer for a freakin sniper with the IB logo slapped on it. And the Auto Rifle is the same, overpriced and a Dr. Nope with different crappy perks. So don't be surprised when NO ONE gets to rank 2.
Lord Salivate could offer a long quest, just like Eris, only valid through the IB week. At the end of the crucible quest, offer armor of raid equivalency or primary weapons with arc, void, or solar damage. I guarantee you that players would flock to the challenge. I just think you've missed an opportunity, and now this event is tarnished. It's fun playing without the caps, and I enjoy it, but it seems pointless for achieving a new reward. I'm disappointed I'll say, but the game is still awesome, still fun, and I'll continue to play. I just hope you'll consider a PVP path for players to take to achieve level 32 status.
**UPDATE**: For the ignorant who skim through this post, and are comparing the IB to the raid...your a moron. No one is saying that you should play this IB system and get raid gear. That's just retarded. What I propose is a very tough quest from Lord Salivate, much like Eris gave us a taste of, and make it gruelingly hard and time consuming. For instance "Kill 200 Guardians with a Sniper, landing the kill shot while invisible". Now imagine doing 12 of these during the week of IB. Obviously you would have to include DLC maps, because only DLC provides level 32. It would give people the option to grind to get a single raid equivalent weapon or armor piece. The End.

Trials of Osiris will probably have 32 gear.
-
3 RepliesLord Saladin Quest: Get a 25 k/d ratio in match. Reward: Level 32 armor piece that can be re-rolled
-
-
Agree. IB = complete and utter waste of time.
-
-
3 RepliesI'm pretty certain that in a month or so it will be.
-
Agreed
-
2 RepliesI think IB should have lvl 33 gear. Just so the PvE only guys have to suffer though IB and then come to the forums and bitch about it. That's just me though.
-
1 ReplyNow? No. In a month or two? Yes.
-
3 RepliesWhen the Trials of Osiris come around, that should be the PVP way to max light level. For the majority of people it would be much more difficult to obtain a full set of Trials armor than coasting through Iron Banner and buying a set.
-
I just came to say your profile picture looks like a toilet seat. Nahh but really I do agree with your idea, otherwise there's no point to this iron banner other than bounties for XP.
-
1 ReplyLol Lord Salivate. I see a guy with drool running from the seams of his armor making Homer Simpson noises.
-
I'm not good at crucible but agree with the theory. Pvp players shouldn't have to feel like second tier players. IB can be just as hard as raid, more so as your stats are yours alone and you aren't carried by team members. There's a vanguard and crucible faction. Both can get you to 31. Both okay styles should be able to get you to 32
-
And the next IB will, 1-2 weeks before the next DLC drops and the light level cap will be raised again. IB gear is there to get you that last piece when the vault or the end just doesnt drop it for you.
-
The first IB didn't have 30 gear so why should this one have 32 gear? Makes more sense for the next IB to have 32 gear.
-
2 RepliesI do think that there should be a pvp way to get to level 32 (or max level in the next dlc) but the IB format as of now is not really the way to go. Some things would need to change to make it not end up being called a "fake 32". I don't know for sure what that would look like but I think a permanent pvp event with light requirements similar to IB but even more rigid, with RNG armor drops after completing quests or bounties or something similar to a raid checkpoint. Idk just thinking aloud but I really believe that there should be another way to 32 that is actually a real challenge
-
Nope go beat crota, and stop being a pussy
-
1 ReplyNo its so -blam!-ing stupid they shouldnt have even made the tower armor or the ib armor 31 its complete bullshit when us raid 30s did it legit and like me im gonna get 31 and 32 legit by dojng CE
-
1 ReplyIt won't get you to lvl 32 because in normal crucible level doesn't matter
-
I expect the next IB or the one after that will be lvl 32. If that is your chosen route to a higher level then just accept that you need to be patient. I play IB because it is just as fun as standard Crucible and I want all my characters to have IB shader/class armour/emblem so that in the scenario that they offer awesome gear I can speed level... I'm thinking about IB 5 and beyond....
-
4 RepliesNo. They already said they made a mistake doing that. So it will never be that. The level 32 is for the most skilled players in the raid.
-
This may sound dumb, but what about making Iron Banner gear have a max light value of 34 or 35 per piece? This would make it so you can't hit 32 with any of your gear being IB gear, but it certainly would up you a bit more than the 33 point gear. Obviously, stats could follow suit and scale including defense values.
-
You know they'll give us level 32 gear in IB once level 32 is more obtainable, right? They did the same thing earlier. Nobody complained about IB 1.0 not leveling them to 30, did they?
-
Also think it should be possible to get lvl 32 gear by PVP, but not by the iron banner. It should be some sort of team based ranking/ladder system like the arena WOW. Then the PVE scrubs would keep raiding for their gear, because the PVP is too hard.

Edited by Afawafa: 12/17/2014 7:25:32 AMI think this Iron Banner came at an awkward time. It's a little too early. A lot of players haven't reached 32 yet due to lack of radiant shards/raid gear, and if they released 32 IB now, it would honestly feel like a gigantic middle finger to PvE players since PvP players get a shortcut to 32. Remember some of the whining over the last iron banner giving level 30 gear? That was after players had months to raid and attain sufficient gear and materials to reach level 30 and people were still bitching about hoe IBers ddn't earn the gear and took a shortcut. I imagined that something 10x worse would've happened if this IB had 32 gear. If they wanted to release the IB this early, ehat they really should've done is give the gear a larger variety of decent perks, making them alternatives to vendor gear and allowing you to choose the perks that benefit you want instead of being forced to use something with useless perks solely because of light level. While your suggestion is thoughtful, I feel that setting up tough, tedious bounties would greatly penalise PvP players who do not have enough time to invest in the single week that is Iron Banner. However, if there were very difficult pvp bounties meant for a permanent competitive playlist that would give you the opportunity to gain raid level armor from pvp, I'd be all for it.

Edited by OuroborosWrath: 12/17/2014 7:08:14 AMIDEA: Giving PvP player lvl 32 Gear through Iron Banner. PROBLEM: Upgrading the armor would default to ascended shards which many players have an abundance of. They wouldn't use the Dark Below shards because they aren't Hive related gear. This raiders would then have 2 chests and 3 parts of the raid to earn their gear. (YES! Earned. Since they played the game enough to produce the desired results) Iron Banner spans over a week and the amount of time some people play would be equivalent to months of playing Crota's End trying to earn the gear and shards needed to reach 32. SOLUTION: Much like the VoG Bungie has mad a single source that can produce the required gear to reach the level cap so every player is on an even playing field. Basically there's no reason to complain since Bungie forces players to play PvP more than trying to force PvP players to play PvE. Even the factions use PvP currency and not PvE so yet again we are forced to play PvP to but the factions gear. EDIT: Also Raid gear is specific to the Raid so IB gear would be giving more player buffs that are useful in PvP creating an imbalance between players. There is Vangaurd and Crucible gear to reach 31 so at that moment it's balanced.
