Bungie...you have a great opportunity here! Why would you not make the Iron Banner an exciting time in Destiny?
First off, we can't upgrade our Iron Banner weapons? Wth? Please at least apologize to all of us who busted our tail and wasted all that time to achieve these rewards. Not to mention the constant nagging from wives, all for nothing it seems.
We all know that the only way to get to 32 is to obtain raid gear playing PVE. The Iron Banner is the perfect format to offer those that don't like or can't do raids all the time, the same chance to obtain raid gear. I mean the game is called DESTINY...I should be able to reach 32 through PVP or PVE in my opinion, but both being equally challenging.
As a 31 Hunter, nothing in the IB (Iron Banner) is appealing to a wide majority of us. The best thing about it seems to be the sweet looking sniper, but I'm not about to work my tail off for days just to spend over 11k in glimmer for a freakin sniper with the IB logo slapped on it. And the Auto Rifle is the same, overpriced and a Dr. Nope with different crappy perks. So don't be surprised when NO ONE gets to rank 2.
Lord Salivate could offer a long quest, just like Eris, only valid through the IB week. At the end of the crucible quest, offer armor of raid equivalency or primary weapons with arc, void, or solar damage. I guarantee you that players would flock to the challenge. I just think you've missed an opportunity, and now this event is tarnished. It's fun playing without the caps, and I enjoy it, but it seems pointless for achieving a new reward. I'm disappointed I'll say, but the game is still awesome, still fun, and I'll continue to play. I just hope you'll consider a PVP path for players to take to achieve level 32 status.
**UPDATE**: For the ignorant who skim through this post, and are comparing the IB to the raid...your a moron. No one is saying that you should play this IB system and get raid gear. That's just retarded. What I propose is a very tough quest from Lord Salivate, much like Eris gave us a taste of, and make it gruelingly hard and time consuming. For instance "Kill 200 Guardians with a Sniper, landing the kill shot while invisible". Now imagine doing 12 of these during the week of IB. Obviously you would have to include DLC maps, because only DLC provides level 32. It would give people the option to grind to get a single raid equivalent weapon or armor piece. The End.

It wouldn't surprise me if this becomes an option in a few weeks with the next IB.
-
Or 31.5
-
The only thing you need 32 for is the hard mode raid, so it makes sense that the only way to get to 32 is the raid.
-
That's fine with me. But to upgrade it you need iron shards, which drop as often as legendary engrams lol
-
As the queens missions should be for PvE.
-
Only if it required radiant materials to upgrade. (Which is why the current armor only gets you to 31)
-
2 RepliesI predict it will be, just not now. Remember we had the first IB which didn't do much, it wasn't until the second IB that things got really interesting. I say we'll see a fourth IB just prior to HOW DLC, and it will let the PVPers catch up to the PVErs
-
There really should be multiple sets of gear to reach max level though. I don't care where it comes from. Hell, even have the raid drop like 4 or 5 unique sets through RNG per class would be fine. But it kind of sucks that everyone ends up looking the same when we are supposed to be building our own legend.
-
If you are primarily pvp why do you need to even get past 20 let alone capped if your shit is scaled? Other than iron banner that is, that's even questionable
-
2 RepliesNo because I'm entitled to 32 because I paid for the dlc. People who didn't pay for the dlc would be able to get 32 which defeats the purpose of bungie's model which requires players to pay for levels for an advantage in their pvp. Right Deej?
-
If PvP could reach lvl 32 then people would instantly call it a "fake" 32 because of how easy it is to achieve.
-
The next one probably will be but they couldn't give you access to 32 when the pvers can't do it without rerolling characters.
-
No point this time as the raid is still new. Id get it if was near the next dlc so people could get ready for that but way too soon to give a headstart like that
-
no, iB scrubs
-
-
-
Absolutely not.
-
How much light gear is he selling
-
Nah. IB 4.0 should. Just like IB 1.0 the gear is underleveled. It goes high, but not so high it's one of the strongest gears. IB 4.0 Will probably have the 36 Light though. Then IB 5.0 will have 39 Light probably, as there probably will be better gear by then
-
2 RepliesIt shouldnt be a path to 32. The game requires allot of luck i agree. But i wouldnt want to see every noob grinding pvp to be able to hit 32 like its nothing

U know it will only work if they add a new playlist where lvl advantages are on all the time
-
They'll hand out 32 IB gear, 2 weeks before house of wolves..

I should be able to reach 32 through PVP or PVE in my opinion, but both being equally challenging.
I was under the impression that level 32 only really mattered for the raid and to a lesser extent the level 30 heroic and epic content in PvE. What is the point of creating a shortcut for PvP players to get to level 32? Wouldn't it essentially just be a vanity item?
-
I will be playing it just to get Timurs Lash and the magic school bus
-
3 RepliesI agree. I don't understand why they lock max level behind the raid.
