Bungie...you have a great opportunity here! Why would you not make the Iron Banner an exciting time in Destiny?
First off, we can't upgrade our Iron Banner weapons? Wth? Please at least apologize to all of us who busted our tail and wasted all that time to achieve these rewards. Not to mention the constant nagging from wives, all for nothing it seems.
We all know that the only way to get to 32 is to obtain raid gear playing PVE. The Iron Banner is the perfect format to offer those that don't like or can't do raids all the time, the same chance to obtain raid gear. I mean the game is called DESTINY...I should be able to reach 32 through PVP or PVE in my opinion, but both being equally challenging.
As a 31 Hunter, nothing in the IB (Iron Banner) is appealing to a wide majority of us. The best thing about it seems to be the sweet looking sniper, but I'm not about to work my tail off for days just to spend over 11k in glimmer for a freakin sniper with the IB logo slapped on it. And the Auto Rifle is the same, overpriced and a Dr. Nope with different crappy perks. So don't be surprised when NO ONE gets to rank 2.
Lord Salivate could offer a long quest, just like Eris, only valid through the IB week. At the end of the crucible quest, offer armor of raid equivalency or primary weapons with arc, void, or solar damage. I guarantee you that players would flock to the challenge. I just think you've missed an opportunity, and now this event is tarnished. It's fun playing without the caps, and I enjoy it, but it seems pointless for achieving a new reward. I'm disappointed I'll say, but the game is still awesome, still fun, and I'll continue to play. I just hope you'll consider a PVP path for players to take to achieve level 32 status.
**UPDATE**: For the ignorant who skim through this post, and are comparing the IB to the raid...your a moron. No one is saying that you should play this IB system and get raid gear. That's just retarded. What I propose is a very tough quest from Lord Salivate, much like Eris gave us a taste of, and make it gruelingly hard and time consuming. For instance "Kill 200 Guardians with a Sniper, landing the kill shot while invisible". Now imagine doing 12 of these during the week of IB. Obviously you would have to include DLC maps, because only DLC provides level 32. It would give people the option to grind to get a single raid equivalent weapon or armor piece. The End.

I agree with the IB the way it is now, I use it for exping my weapons and hoping to get something off the droplist. I will say this, depending on the load out you prefer and the stat balance you need the 2 pieces of 31 gear he does have may be worth it. More specifically for the players who are working their way to 31 still or the ones who seem to only get shard drops in the raid, It might be worth taking the time to tweek your gear. 31+ however IB doesn't really hold much, Unless they hid a extra bad ass weapon in the drop list somewhere!

1 ReplyIB will not offer a path to level 32. The gear would be useless to you anyways since radiant shards and energy only drop in Crotas end. If they even awarded the gear from it you would not even be able to level it. They would need to create new gear to accomplish this and they aren't known for loading in new gear in patches. Iron Banner is kind of useless now but it is what it is. and No I have never played a raid. Ive never played one and everyone hates me! lol
-
1 ReplyI agree, but I don't think they should offer free 32 gear almost immediately after the raid was released.
-
1 ReplyYeah bungie really wants players to hit 32 already before hard modes even out and 1 week into the dlc. Dumbass
-
Nope hahaahaha
-
Yes. But you're not going to get that this soon after an Expansion. Especially since Bungie seems to want to have one every month.

2 RepliesI'm sure you will be able to reach 32 through pvp but it's not gonna be on the second week of the dlc.. The next IB will probably have 36light gear
-
3 Replies...just how important do you people think Crucible is in the grand scheme of Destiny? It's literally a small patch of tacked on content, yet you cry like it's half the game. Even with the lacking story, that's still a laughable statement. Just play the damn raid... besides, if you're content fiddling away your time in a corner of the game that's completely scaled anyway, what's the point even reaching Level 32?
-
I can agree with you, but it'd have to be hard to obtain and the upgrade materials need to be different like it is with the raid gear. This is all debatable though.

100% right Ppl should be able to choose playing PvE or PvP. Second way is always harder so it should even give better gear. I dont like rides why I have to make them to get good exotic weapons (of course there is also Xur) or gear? 1 more thing. Playing few hours Strikes/Rides I would get tons of blue, some legendary and maybe even exotic. Playing IB for 10 hours I got 2-3 coins and 1 blue per 3 games. 0 legendary. Why rewards are so low in PvP?
-
1 ReplyYou should be able to get lvl 32 with IB gear. We were able to hit lvl 30 with it before, what is different now?
-
1 ReplyIt's lord Saladin* by the way
-
I agree and I'm not touching this iron banner, even if it was giving 32 light gear I'm just not up for playing that much PvP. But to give a helmet or chest piece with 36 light and make it very difficult to achieve, that seems like a good idea to me.
-
3 Repliesi am pretty sure this will be implemented with the trials of osiris.
-
I wish the level difference actually made a legit diff. Iron Banner is a joke sadly sorry.
-
Im going to enjoy becoming level 32 while the rest of you bottom feeder peasants look at us master race, while wearing your level 31 peasant rags.
-
Bungie should give many paths to reach the level cap. Having every single level 32 look the same makes me not want to get raid gear.
-
The big error was letting people buy gear better than VoG gear. It should have been- Vendors: 30 Light Iron Banner: 33 light DLC Raid: 36 light That would have: Made it so VOG wasn’t immediately inferior to vendor gear. Give a good reason for people to chase IB gear. Preserved Bungie’s odd new raid economy
-
Thank you. If you like the PvP aspect more than raiding all day, then your screwed. You have to do the new raid tens of times just to get the armor and then plenty more to get the materials needed to upgrade. I don't know about you but doing the exact same mission 50 times in a row doesn't sound fun to me.
-
I kind of agree but I think they are saving level 32 PVP gear for Trials of Osiris, or at the very least waiting until the DLC has been out a month or so and then releasing level 32 gear in the next IB. For now im getting boots for my hunter and his cloak so the next 1 is easier.

27 RepliesNO NO NO NO...... If us PvE players HAVE to play this ridiculous PvP crap to complete the Thorn bounty then I think you PvP bois should have to complete the raid and earn 1,000 points with shotguns since this seams to be your weapon of choice and all critical hits have to be to Crotas nuts! Each nut shot is 5 points and you will lose 2 points if you die. Sounds fair to me!

Edited by Bushido: 12/17/2014 11:33:56 PMYESSSSS but i think PVE is the majority for Destiny players. us PVP players should just go back to halo or something :(

It wouldn't surprise me if this becomes an option in a few weeks with the next IB.
