Iron Banner Should Be PVP Path To Level 32

Bungie...you have a great opportunity here! Why would you not make the Iron Banner an exciting time in Destiny? First off, we can't upgrade our Iron Banner weapons? Wth? Please at least apologize to all of us who busted our tail and wasted all that time to achieve these rewards. Not to mention the constant nagging from wives, all for nothing it seems. We all know that the only way to get to 32 is to obtain raid gear playing PVE. The Iron Banner is the perfect format to offer those that don't like or can't do raids all the time, the same chance to obtain raid gear. I mean the game is called DESTINY...I should be able to reach 32 through PVP or PVE in my opinion, but both being equally challenging. As a 31 Hunter, nothing in the IB (Iron Banner) is appealing to a wide majority of us. The best thing about it seems to be the sweet looking sniper, but I'm not about to work my tail off for days just to spend over 11k in glimmer for a freakin sniper with the IB logo slapped on it. And the Auto Rifle is the same, overpriced and a Dr. Nope with different crappy perks. So don't be surprised when NO ONE gets to rank 2. Lord Salivate could offer a long quest, just like Eris, only valid through the IB week. At the end of the crucible quest, offer armor of raid equivalency or primary weapons with arc, void, or solar damage. I guarantee you that players would flock to the challenge. I just think you've missed an opportunity, and now this event is tarnished. It's fun playing without the caps, and I enjoy it, but it seems pointless for achieving a new reward. I'm disappointed I'll say, but the game is still awesome, still fun, and I'll continue to play. I just hope you'll consider a PVP path for players to take to achieve level 32 status. **UPDATE**: For the ignorant who skim through this post, and are comparing the IB to the raid...your a moron. No one is saying that you should play this IB system and get raid gear. That's just retarded. What I propose is a very tough quest from Lord Salivate, much like Eris gave us a taste of, and make it gruelingly hard and time consuming. For instance "Kill 200 Guardians with a Sniper, landing the kill shot while invisible". Now imagine doing 12 of these during the week of IB. Obviously you would have to include DLC maps, because only DLC provides level 32. It would give people the option to grind to get a single raid equivalent weapon or armor piece. The End.

  • People who are raging about Iron Banner gear not getting you to 32 are idiots. The reason they don't get you to max level is because the level 32 crucible gear is going to be obtained in the Trials of Osiris, ok? Quit crying.

    • I don't even PvP that much and I still agree you should have the opportunity to get 32 gear. On ONE condition! RNG only. That's how it is for raids, so its only fair its RNG for PvP as well.

Isn't it ironic that if someone who does nothing but raids and gets to lvl 32, can compete in the Iron Banner where cold hearted, rugged crucible players are only 31. The big premise of the Iron Banner is Level Matters. So why can't the Iron Lords be the best in their own event? Why are outsiders offered better advantages?
Bungie U sux, get gud an lstn to us
• PvP level only matters during IB. IB caters to the PvE players. Should you have a free ticket to any PvE difficulty just playing PvP? The two armor pieces they offer should be 36 light though, otherwise - who cares?

          • Lol this idiot actually thinks that beating scrubs in Pvp is the equivalent of beating the raid multiple times to reach 32. Man. I almost missed the #satire or I wouldve really thought OP was a complete idiot.

            • U shouldn't worry about it too much, you can get 32 gear in 30 mins without even killing crota.

            • Iron banner is a joke, and would be far too easy to achieve the level required for this 32 gear by simply playing a lot. Don't get me wrong though: the new raid is unbelievably easy, I think everything in there should be raised by an entire level. Level 32 is honestly nothing with this expansion, not even close to the accomplishments that level 30 was in vanilla.

            • 32 gear drops so frequently on the new raid so there's no need for IB.

            • If I play crucible, I have a random chance of entering a game in which one of my opponents is near invincible. The round is almost a sure defeat, and I get almost nothing for participating. If this is iron banner and I get a string of bad connections, I can go ~10 rounds before I find a game where my bullets actually do full damage, meaning that 5 of the last ten rounds I played gained me nothing at all, thanks to a limit on loss tokens. ~several wasted hours and no loot If I raid, I can cheese every fight and guarantee myself a chance at loot. In a raid, if I mess up my connection intentionally, I can get the best loot in the game from the final boss of the hardest content. ~30-60 minutes of guaranteed loot Hmmmm... yea... I am going to say Iron Banner should reward 32 level loot. Why? Because this game is broken so badly that nothing works properly. Why reward one broken side more than another?

            • Right now I don't even have a pve path to 32 for my 3 characters. Iron banner needed 30 light gear because of the terrible loot system in Vault of Glass people missing boots only for weeks on end. This raid seems to drop armor more frequently, although there's only two armor drops. But we're being held back by mats, how do you make it fear for the pve players limited by that each week?

            • Not a bad idea. As long as the bounties were very difficult and it took an equal amount of time as the raid on average. I prefer PvE gear but if you don't like a certain side of Destiny you shouldn't be forced into it. If you hate doing raids and suck at it then you shouldn't be forced into it, same for PvP.

              • If you think about it iron banner only bumped the gear to lvl 30 2 many 3 weeks before the dlc launched. Correct me if in wrong.

                • I disagree, this is a console version of an MMO, I don't care what people say too many common things between it and every other MMO out there. With that being said, PvP has never gotten you raid gear or gear equivalent to it. Oh wow how hard is it to sit in the corner crouched with a shotgun or in the farthest corner of the map hiding with a sniper?!? Go do the raid PvP baby, you prolly can't handle it, must have skill and team coordination, no hiding or crouching in the corner there!

                  • Definitely. They ruined iron banner with the real/fake 30. Now there is literally 1 way to get to lvl 32, and that's pve. Are the Lord's methods no longer working? At least you should keep the only equipping 2 ib gear at a time and be able to get close to 32. Deej, I thought there was many ways to reach the cap. IB definitely had my hopes up, but this time not so much. Please give PvP a way to reach cap.

Unless you're trying to get one of the weapons (I want the sniper to reforge for perfect mods) there is no point. Drop rates on gear are miserable and I feel like they're even worse than the last IB...last time I got two lash and 3 hammers and saw stuff drop all the time. This time I have seen 1 ship drop for a team mate, nothing else. They need to up the drop rate for crucible in general, it's pretty pathetic that Bungie keeps ignoring the terrible drops in crucible, I can't even remember the last time I got even a legendary engram from crucible, and I pvp a lot. I think they will offer 36 light gear from IB eventually, but like last time it will not be a full set, you'll still need an exotic and 1 fully upgraded piece of raid gear, so even with IB giving 36 light gear it's still not a fully viable path to the level cap. Several other MMO's have alternate paths to max out your gear, the difference is usually determined by a pvp Stat of some kind making it better in pvp but crap in raids, and raid gear lacks that pvp Stat bonus and thus is worse in pvp. (Most of you already know this but just a recap). This would be viable here, except that barring IB stats don't matter in crucible so a pvp Stat would be useless. I still think there should be a compromise somewhere. Perhaps make a difficult to obtain pvp set with raid equivalent level that has mods that are specific to crucible like "Killing enemies in The Crucible reduces the cool down of your super," or something that wouldn't really be useful in a raid, but isn't so useless that you couldn't use it as a stepping stone for pve content if you needed to. This game is controlled at least in part by Activision (CoD), so saying that competitive multi-player is a minor concern for them is unrealistic. I think there can and should be a compromise to help curb this pompous attitude from the many of the hard core raiders vs pvp'ers and casuals, it doesn't help the sense of "community" that they would like to achieve....but that's a whole other issue for another thread. My 2c.

                      • I agree with the IB the way it is now, I use it for exping my weapons and hoping to get something off the droplist. I will say this, depending on the load out you prefer and the stat balance you need the 2 pieces of 31 gear he does have may be worth it. More specifically for the players who are working their way to 31 still or the ones who seem to only get shard drops in the raid, It might be worth taking the time to tweek your gear. 31+ however IB doesn't really hold much, Unless they hid a extra bad ass weapon in the drop list somewhere!
