If you want to know what unbalanced looks like, I'll tell you read on.
Tonight I jumped onto Destiny. As soon as I do, I join one of my Destiny friends whom I play with almost every day (meaning 5 out of 7 days a week). The conversation is a bit choppy so, we go to set up a chat. By the time I can set up a room he sends me an invite from someone else's chat party. He asks me if I want to do the new raid(FYI, we raid together all the time). He says that they are at the final boss and asks me if I had done it before. I reply that I have done it one time before but that we didn't beat him. Then another voice (that I don't recognize cuts in and says, "Do you have Gallahorn?" I reply, "No" because I don't. He then says, (I can't tell if to me or to my friend) "Sorry man, we need to grab two more Gallahorn guys." (It's not mentioned but I know that my friend has Gallahorn) There is about 3 or 4 seconds of background talk. Then it flashes across my screen, "You have been kicked out of the party." The guy kicked me out because I don't have Gallahorn.
If someone like me can be screened out on account of not having 1 particular weapon, then that weapon is broken.
That's not a brag or conceit, it's simply a fact. I play 6 or 7 days a week since release date. I have 3 level 30 characters, now one 31 and two 30's since the DLC. I ran the Vault of Glass 35 times. I have 12 exotic weapons and 11 exotic armors, not counting duplicates. I fit squarely in the "People who play Destiny too much club". But because I didn't have that 1 weapon none of it mattered. I just wasn't lucky enough to get a Gallahorn so that means I'm second tier.
No other explanation makes sense. They know that Gallahorn creates a separate tier. Gallarhorn is too overpowered to be offered at random.
So fix it Bungie. I'm not the type to rage quit over something like this. I know people make mistakes and any endeavor as big as creating Destiny is going have some mistakes made. However, I'm not the type to keep playing and more importantly, to keep paying, If I'm going to be considered a second tier player because of the luck of the draw.
EDIT: Dec. 16, 2014, 12:40PM CST
I posted the below in response to someone's comment further down in thread, but no one reads that far. Some people are still missing my point and I thing the response I gave below provides some context to what I mean.
..................................
But the issue not the competence of the other team. The issue isn't whether or not you actually do need Gallahorn to beat Crota. The issue is that one particular weapon so stands out from the others that it has started to become a basis of inclusion in the minds of gamers. That's what I'm reporting.
And nerfing the weapon is not the only solution. The problem is if a weapon both is a basis of inclusion AND is randomly obtained. To fix it you only need to solve one of the two. Either make it readily available, or make other substitutes that perform equally and are readily available. If the basis of inclusion were for instance, "The Devil You Know" or I guess now, "The Devil You Don't" that would not be a problem even if it were OP, because everybody can get it at will. Or if it were Hawkmoon as the basis of inclusion, but Thorn performed well enough to be create a legitimate argument as to which was better that would be okay. Thorn is close enough and is obtainable by everyone willing to do enough bounties; therefore Hawk would cease to be used as a basis of inclusion.
But Gally is a non-bounty exotic, and you can't get most non-bounty exotics at will, that is a problem.

-
This is why destiny sucks people bitch and moan about shit and bungee is so annoyed they "fix" the designated weapon and it ruins the players who have that weapons experience please stop moaning about it if it's to op stop playing crucible or just deal with it but don't get this gun nerfed
-
-
nerf this, overpowered that. just shut up dude. you're being a meg.
-
1 ReplySounds like cheesing noobs. If they require gjallarhorn to be in, it doesn't mean it's bungie's fault, it means that the team sucks at strategy and relies too much on rocket spam to actually be good. Join up with people who actually play this game. It's more fun.
-
Ummm... if you don't have one, I'm sorry. How can you judge if you have never used it? Mad because the raid crew wanted someone who had one? Welcome to the club. Just keep pounding VOG like the rest of us who want one. RNGesus sucks, but there's a reason why the drop rate is low, and why Xur will never sell it again. Trust me, most of us share your pain, but don't feed the Bungievision gods any more poor advice. They just might be listening...
-
First if you've been here since the beginning you should have bought it when xur sold it. Second there are rockets that preform almost as well as the gally, hezen vengeance being one of them and hunger of Crota being another. Last learn to use the relic an there will be no need for you to have the gally.

Ghallarjorn is an EXOTIC. Its SUPPOSED to be good. Hey i have kne but i dont have the wolfpack perk yet, and the same thing happens to me. Just wait til friday and buy icebreaker, much better than ghallarjorn and wasting heavy synths
-
You've wasted two hours writing this... You can't even spell gjallarhorn correctly? LOL I'm trolling but seriously It is supposed to be over-powered... Quit labeling exotic, incredibly hard to get weapons "Over-powered"... They are supposed to be! Have a better day!
-
Do you have icebreaker cuz that's better than using gjallarhorn.
-
3 RepliesPosts like this are the reason shooters, months down the line, end up so balanced that nothing stands out. Pocket Infinity is an exotic that got nerfed, un-nerfed, and now nerfed again all because you have whiners out there who complain about OP. The problem isn't Gjal being OP it is the mindset of the morons who make a decision to kick you. Leave the weapon alone and just find some other players who don't use it as a crutch or think it is the only way to take down the Raid. I don't have it. The first time xur sold it I didn't have enough coins and the second time he sold it, I was out of town. I keep hoping for him to sell again but he keeps selling truth instead. To me that's the fun in exotics is chasing down the one that stands out above the rest.

1 ReplyIf ghorn ever gets nerfed I will sell my destiny game that day. People like you ruin good games. You're a nerf crybaby and you should be playing something like cod instead. Do us all a favor and leave destiny. You won't be missed.
-
1 ReplyDont blame gjallahorn, it's just your friends are jerks. PS asking for a nerf just because you dont have that weapon, dont you think you are being an asshole as well?
-
Go back to playing mine craft you weak aŚś player!!!!!
-
most retarded post I've read all day. I can't seem to obtain ice breaker so go ahead and nerf it because I can't get it. I don't even use my gallajorn on corta. I use my hunger of crota. Learn to play.
-
They only needed one, too many can bring him down too fast. My group and I beat it three times in less than two hours. Just use an icebreaker and a high impact primary, you don't need one. You didn't need to play with those sandbox guys any way, they probably haven't beat it and are over thinking.
-
My god, this shit^. Yes the weapon is effective. No it doesn't need nerfed or made available to everyone because a bunch of unskilled assholes kicked you and your butt hurt out of the party. Suck it up and quit writing pussy Nerf posts because your pride was hurt.
-
Why don't you go ahead and nerf the following too: Truth Bad juju Suros PI P&T Icebreaker Sga Vex Hawkmoon Mc Plan c Red death And so on, because exotics should be 1000000% like legendaries -_- Stop demanding for nerfs just because you don't have it doesn't mean it's op.
-
It looks like you spend your time being retarded in destiny. So i am in the same boat as you that i play destiny to muvh. (Even tho i hate the practice of reseting my hard work every dlc) I have every vanalla exotic weapon and only missing 1 exotic helmet for my warlock (vanilla) i have every raid weapon except foil (eludes me but now i have light of the abbys so whateves) Xur has sold every single weapon. So the excuse is not "i couldnt get lucky: its "i didn't spend my time getting coins and buying them" i got my ghorn frpm atheon but i also bought one. 11 exotics...... you cant call your self a destiny enthusiest
-
Me and my team actually beat crota three times today and none of us had the GHorn. All about good friends and skill.
-
You can't blame the weapon because that's what they wanted.
-
Edited by Anasnomous: 12/17/2014 6:53:15 AMI've joined random 4 times beating atheon without ghorn, infavt none of us had it before. Get a good team, its not the weapons fault
-
One, dont nerf a gun just because you dont have it. Two, Any tracking rocket is good on crota (hunger of crota, truth). Three, your friend is a dick tell him to F off. Four, that group was bad. Five git good scrub
-
Lmfao n the moral of the story is u don't have a gjallahorn so u got kick now u want it nerf LMFAOOO
-
Quite whining, "Wah I don't have G Horn, nobody will play with me." This just means you don't have true friends. I don't have it, a few people in my team have it, but we don't it use or need it. Ice breakers, snipers, hand cannons, HIGH IMPACT!!!! These kill Atheon, my opinion you and your friend and his low skill raid team are worthless if you need G Horn to kill him same with Crota. Everyone will eventually get it, its a matter of time, you play enough you will get it then I bet this whining of yours will change. P.S. level 30s Ice Breakers/snipers 3 rounds dead Atheon, hard mode. Crota its all in the timing. Gain skill then comment on OP guns.
