What are some of the perks experts look for in their hc? I am just starting to use them since I got red hand IX. I can't decide if I should go with high cal rounds or explosive.

Edited by Pheracus: 12/14/2014 4:18:48 PMOne thing everyone fails to mention are your sights. A perfect HC has the following: - *Snapshot with Enhanced or Superb target acquisition (aim faster for no scope kills, target acquisition means reticle snaps to heads with aim assist) if a HC doesn't have this I consider it second tier - Outlaw - Send it (increased range is a MUST for PvE AND PvP) range>stability - Firefly (best PvE perk) - Luck in the chamber I personally prefer Fatebringer's perk setup. If I could have send it as well on there I'd consider it perfect for PvE. A PvP HC would have sights, luck in chamber, kills returning ammo to mag, and range > stability. When mastered, fire rate doesn't matter, neither does stability. That's just my opinion.

Explosive rounds tend to spread damage so if you doing a strike with bunching mobs it may be a good idea however singular damage better high cal!
-
A good native or added (perk) stability will serve you well. Finding a hand cannon with a speed reload ability also helps you in a firefight.
-
1 ReplyI look for the Fatebringer.
-
Luck in the chamber is great for low capacity hand cannons.
-
3 RepliesExplosive rounds are a much rarer perk and better in 80% of situations
-
Outlaw is fantastic. So is firefly. Those two perks are the reason fatebringer is so awesome. Field scout is also a must on low capacity hand cannons.
-
neither: Fatebringer with firefly and outlaw.
-
Fatebringer explosive rounds
-
Perks: Outlaw: Precision kills increase reload speed significantly. Firefly: Precision kills make the target explode.

Edited by zigokubasi: 12/15/2014 9:39:08 PMUse explosive for general use, switch to high caliber rounds when you need max crit dmg such as boss fights, since explosive cuts crit dmg. On my own handcannon, I look for a reload speed increasing perk like outlaw, a good cylinder capacity and explosive rounds.

Perfect balanced, firefly, reload speed
-
I got the devil you don't (5 rounds) but I have field scout which makes it a completely new beast
-
Firefly and precision kill reload speed is ideal. I'm a big fan of hammer forged as well.
-
I'm not familiar with that particular HC, but explosive rounds beats high caliber rounds any day of the week. As for perks I like in general: in PVE firefly, any perk that increases damage, and any perk that increases ammo capacity. In PVE explosive rounds, any perk that increases accuracy, and any perk that increases mag size. If you can't get ammo capacity or reload speed, then you can get the same effects from armor. Gauntlets can have increased reload speed with HC's and boots can have increased ammo capacity for HC's

5 RepliesRange over stability (except for Last Word, which is good if you play it right, despite what others say) AP rounds over Explosive or HC. Firefly is better than Explosive IMO. Range, like Send it or Hammerforged, are the really important ones. And mag close to or above ten is essential too, reloading is a bitch in the wrong moment. The dream cannon would have Send it, AP and Firefly along with a sick impact and a 10-13 mag. Ain't gonna happen soon I guess.

Extra rounds if its low on the round count. I stay away from these hand cannons though. Stability Impact but impact should already be good. If it makes them stager stock i do range. Firefly. It wrecks on any weapon. Any bonus damage features like reloading after kill for bonus damage and etc.

High cal, explosive rounds suck in PVE.
-
impact, mag , reload speed, pick impact overall
-
Firefly FTW
-
2 Repliesget a scout rifle.
-
Explosive rounds are better. If the adds are hiding then you just shoot at the ground behind it and you get slash damage then they run out and it stuns them a Lil bit at times
-
Explosive rounds drop all shields. I prefer those over the other perks.
-
Explosive rounds are only good if you are fighting large groups of tightly packed enemies. The explosive round perk reduces the max damage each bullet does to a single enemy.

Red Hand IX all the way!
