This video pretty much sums up why the Black Hammer is the best sniper out there and its only a legendary.
I have it but i still need to unlock the stability perk to make it even better.
EDIT: Also Black Hammer has a higher Impact than the Ice Breaker ._.

One should not forget that ice breaker means ammo for all your other special weapons. Charge swap repeat when empty.

2 RepliesThere's a distinct difference between these two weapons in that the skill curve for the Black Hammer is [b]MUCH[/b] higher. I ran some strikes with it, and I liked it A TON more than the icebreaker. Even though I don't have guaranteed ammo for it all the time, when you're going up against the right bosses, man is this thing great. Fighting the siege tank took about 30 seconds whereas Valus himself took a bit longer, the archon priest didn't stand a chance since he flinches so much, and sepiks prime just become a giant purple ornament in the sky to be smashed by me Black Hammer. Basically, if you have more skill and want to run a Gjallarhorn, black hammer will exile your 331 attack icebreaker to the vault.

I have both and both are used for different things. Black hammer is great for bosses and ice breaker is good for everything else. Be careful with the unlimited ammo white nail perk, you need to hit rapid crits which is difficult.

2 RepliesIt's decent for anything that has a bigger crit spot. What about bosses that move around a lot, or if you NEED to get a shot off for whatever reason is and you can't get a total aim. So you get two crits and one hit. Bye bye buff. Also, what if the enemy doesn't have a crit spot? You should test it out on a boss that doesn't have the biggest crit spot and just floats around. Ice Breaker's regenerating ammo is simply the most helpful perk in the game in my subjective opinion. And while I find myself cursing at it not regenerating fast enough, it still does a stellar job if you pace yourself.

I have both, Black Hammer missing the final damage upgrade though... It's a solid sniper, no question about it, but the "unlimited ammo" perk is reaaaly tricky, man. Where Black Hammer shines is the big bosses with big critical points, like Phogoth or Valus Tank or Shrek and Fiona in raid - there I agree, it's unstoppable. But just now I did Valus with BH... *sigh* no, just no. Get two headshots, Valus turns around - either u hit his back or wait too long to turn his head again - either way, ur buff is lost. ice Breaker is way more flexible that way. Both are great snipers, but I'd still pick my Icey over anything else...

It's not necessarily the best Landing 3 precision shots is pretty darn hard to do, even with perfect balance on it

77 RepliesCHALLENGE: If you really feel (and I quote) "this is the best sniper out there" Leave all you special ammo synth. in your vault, take Black Hammer and fire off all rounds till your left with 3. Now I will have Ice Breaker and will also leave all my special ammo synth. in my vault I will fire off all rounds till I only have 3. Now we go to a strike mission using only our sniper rifles.....do you see where this is going???? No way it is better than Ice Breaker.

1 ReplyI have it, not useful on Crota because he has no precision spot, by it's AMAZING on the Templar, Atheon, Ogres, Hydras, Fallen Walkers, Archon Priest. Still running it through the hoops though. Yesterday i got off 21 straight shots on the Archon Priest, then hit him in the shoulder lmao. Black Hammer is tight, to say the least.

1 ReplyInteresting. Nice to know the perk isn't just skipping the reload animation. It really does give you unlimited ammo. Well I want it then. I could save my exotic slot for something else then. Since both are solar I won't miss much.
