Is the new Xur exotic weapon upgrade breaking your glimmer bank or do you think the price is fair?

13 RepliesEdited by CBS II Gizmo: 12/12/2014 4:12:49 PMFor what some have spent to get the exotic already in coins and grinding, I feel the glimmer price could come down to 4000, for small increase you are getting. On top of that you still need to re-upgrade the friggin thing!

Would be less of an issue if there wasn't a glimmer cap. I was hoping to get at least one more V2 of my other exotics but that's prob not happening unless I hold off on upgrading IB.
-
Might as well just wait tell you find a upgraded version
-
It's ridiculous. I got an exotic the day before TDB was released. It's unfair that since I got it a day earlier than some people, I have to pay 1 Exotic shard and 7,000 glimmer for mine to be as strong.
-
I might be ok if it was actually 7k glimmer like they stayed it would be. Most of the upgrades start at 7.2k and go up from there. To upgrade a Suros you are looking at almost 8k plus the shard. And, they don't get experience as fast as they said they would. I think they upgrade slower once you upgrade to version 2.0 of your weapon of choice that you pick to upgrade.
-
YUP too high
-
Nah, you don't want the upgrades to become too common. I like the more complex economies. For instance now we know with the exotic engram what a shard is worth in both coins and motes. Rather Than go changing the price of things If like to see more room in my bank for marks and glimmer.
-
Yup. They fix it so you don't have to scoot around on the planets picking flowers for hours everytime u get a new piece of gear. So naturally you have to go farm for glimmer now.
-
Plus the price to upgrade the gun after you buy the upgraded gun. You don't notice until you try to upgrade and you are suddenly out of glimmer. Sigh, back to grinding.
-
I was quite upset but at first but after thinking about it it's not a bad trade. I am basically getting a fully upgraded exotic when I trade it in because the new ones have base 302 damage. It's frustrating I have to re earn the special abilities but I digress. However I think making us farm for a fackton of glimmer is quite annoying and is just a way to get us to play the game longer. Sure, it only takes about an hour to max it out but it is the most boring hour I've spent. It feels like I'm back at the loot cave. And to be honest, I never seem to get max glimmer in an hour. I think you should get a high amount of glimmer for doing different activities. Oh you finished VoG? Here have 20000 glimmer. Oh you finished a strike? Here have 2000 glimmer. Glimmer shouldn't be a limiting factor in upgrading things. I agree you should have to work for it but for gods sake make us do something fun, not just kill cabal majors over and over. /rant.
-
It's not too bad. I was doing a lot of strike playlist today. Just use the item that enhances glitter for the enemy you will be fighting the most. Devils lair is ether seeds for fallen, phogoth and omnigul are black wax idol for hive (may want to save idol for late mission on omnigul since you fight fallen at first), nexus and archon priest are blue polyphase for vex, and valus is resupply codes for cabal. You make tons of glimmer and you don't feel like you are farming it lol.

3 RepliesI like the fact we have to grind out glimmer for each one. I'm okay with moving away from the instant gratification trend of our society... Seriously though, I think it's good that the game won't let everyone max out all their gear in one sitting. I like that we need to pick and choose a little bit.
-
It is doable but it is keeping me from wanting to do it with more than a couple of my favorite old ones.
-
Glimmer cap should be raised.
-
3 Replies7k glimmer im okay, but 7 coins for an exotic shard is almost absurd. I can scavenge MAYBE 11 or 12 coins A WEEK between the nightfall/ the weekly and random engrams. So now I get to decide. Hmm which single exotic should I upgrade, or buy this week. :(
-
2 Replieseveryone keeps forgettin te fact that they are makin you farm stuff. Glimmers coins etc so you stay in the game? amd 7k and 7 coins are fair prices. You should upgrade the ones you definatly need. not all at once anyhow.
-
3 RepliesI agree that it is pricy but on the other hand there are ways to max out your glimmer in an hour or less
-
Edited by Bladescorpion: 12/12/2014 9:36:34 PMGlimmer should not be required or some thing reasonable like 1k.
-
6 RepliesIt's a little pricey but don't worry. Once you upgrade everything, glimmer will become useless again.
-
2 RepliesThe price is fair. You can't upgrade all your weapons at once. Besides, I'm willing to bet a lot of people who say its to pricey also said glimmer was useless.
-
There is no limit to the amount of glimmer you can farm. There is a cap of 25k but you can always spend glimmer and then earn more. There is a limit to the number of strange coins you can easily earn in a weeks time. I'd much rather upgrade and save the strange coins. Use some of the glimmer consumables and you'll find it's pretty quick and easy to earn glimmer. Especially if there is an enemy war event.

Edited by aknaff: 12/12/2014 9:42:05 PMYou can pretty much max out your glimmer in an hour on Mars. 7000 for an upgrade is nothing.
-
They broke me lol. It's expensive but it's mostly because of the glimmer cap. If glimmer had a larger cap it would be better.
-
1 ReplySo many people on this game don't want to work for anything. Glimmer is -blam!-in easy to get so everyone should stop complaining about it. Be happy your exotics are relevant and not trash like any other gear based progression game
-
7 RepliesThey need to make glimmer specific to each character instead of pooling it between all three. Another unfathomable designed decision by Bungie. Where oh where has the original Bungie gone?
-
I don't mind paying the glimmer, but I don't know why glimmer has such a low cap on it. I mean 25000? That's next to nothing for how much stuff costs.
