I think it's for those who want to reroll armor stats (int/dis/str).

I'd probably do it for a reroll on armor. As guns stats are static.

Yeah i had two Ice Breakers and was upgrading them on a toon and messed up and placed the upgraded one back on instead of the other non-upgraded one guns should not be allowed to be rerolled was pretty pissed when i found out i had completely and utterly wasted my shard and 7400 glimmer.
