How can you be 31? I bought boots and gloves as level 30? If I level them up will u be 31 or do I need chest and helmet too??

You need all four fully upgraded to be 31 or three and a new exotic partially upgraded same as the gear before to get 29

To sum it up you need 33 light times 4 or 132 light so making your armor to that level gets you to 31 and 32 is 36 light times 4 or 144 light
