Tl;dr- The only challenging thing about this raid is the damage penalty, the mechanics are easy. Pretty lazy game design IMO
To be honest it seems to me like they couldn't figure out how to make the raid challenging so instead they just raised the enemy cap to level 32.
The first phase was ridiculously simple, follow some lights for 5 minutes you get some free raid gear? AND there's an exotic chest right next to where you land?? I was like... Seriously? In VOG you can't get any raid gear until you beat the Oracles which is a challenge to reach in the first place.
My team of randoms made it to Crota in no time, and were able to figure out and execute the method successfully to damage Crota, the only thing holding us back was was the inability to do enough damage before enragement because of being 2 levels below the enemies.
Imagine a team of level 28s attempting to beat vault of glass on hard mode, even with all of our strategies and experience I feel that would be harder to beat than a team of 30s on Crota. If you had a team of all level 32s and therefore were on par with your enemies, I feel this raid would be a cake walk.
I guess I was just expecting the raid to challenge us in different ways other than fighting higher level mobs, seems like a lazy way of increasing difficultly. I know that VOG normal did the same at the end but why do you think hard mode Crotas end is going to be level 33? It's because Bungie knows if they made it level 32 it would be too easy and therefore decided to handicap us. Lazy.

1 ReplyYeah with the VoG they really stressed how hard it was and how team oriented before it actually came out but with the dlc they focused more on the new weapons and armor
