It's just superstition. When things are up to luck it makes people crazy.
Traditions are also strong in the raid. The loot chests are an example of this. We once thought that they would dissappear quickly like the material chests in patrols, but now that we know they won't dissappear for 4 minutes we still wait for everyone to open at once.

Well that just enforces my point that everyone waits to open chests together regardless.

eh i dont. i loot all of em at my own convenience. even the spirit bloom chest. no chest to me disappears, even the bonus chest for preventing the templar from teleporting.
