How did you become a Sniper?
Was it in Destiny or in a game before this? Are you still working on your sniping skills or have you mastered the craft? How did you get started and where are you with it now?
If you really like sniping, consider joining Sniper Gang, if you haven't already.

1 ReplyHalo2/Halo3 best sniper ever (not me the actual rifle)

CoD WaW Scoped Arisaka, still one of my favorites, Though I did use the iron sights with it a lot of the time as well.

1 ReplyI've always gravitated to the sniper rifle. Not sure if there was one in the original Wolfenstein. Probably too pixelated - and too long ago to remember :) The most fun I've had with a sniper rifle has been in Arma 3. Over a hundred hours logged there.

i am at 1860 sniper kills at the moment - nearly 300 more than my auto rifle... patience and time is all i use mostly now.

first halo... in destiny i was running around getting splattered until the last iron banner and then i discovered what it means to have patience and time.

I began sniping in Halo 2, during the campaign. I didn't get to enjoy xbox live until after I got my first 360, in October 2008. I began watching sniper montages and vowed I would one day have my own. Little by little I worked on my matchmaking skills, taking the sniper whenever I could. I had a lot of really good sniper shots in Halo 3, but I never had the ability to make them into a montage. But I continued to love the sniper throughout Reach as well, and I even used it a little in Halo 4. In the Destiny beta I made sure I had a sniper on me at all times. Now that Destiny is out, and the snipers work differently than they did in Halo, I've become accustomed to them now and I'm at a fairly nice skill level with them. I almost always have a sniper on me in Destiny, with the exceptions being if I need to level up a different weapon, or complete weapon specific bounties. That being said, I still have a little room for improvement in my crucible sniping where the opponent is more unpredictable. I've loved sniping for a long time, and I will continue to love the most skill required playstyle in video games for years to come. Sniping is an art, and the best snipers have the most finesse. (Two body shots is sloppy artwork)

1 ReplyNever much liked the sniper in Halo series was more of a up close shotty smg player, but when I played Gears of War and I got my first headshot with the sniper there I had found my new favorite weapon. Headshots on GoW where so dam satisfying like a watermelon bursting sound that could be heard on the whole map... too bad the later GoW sucked after GoW2, atleast for me.

2 RepliesWell my booooye, its a long story. Na started in halo ce, in its first year out. Friends would come over and we would 1v1 sniper fight. Still snipe to this day, I'm good at it, have good days with it and bad days, but I'd say I've mastered it.

Definitely Halo taught me the basics but I mastered it in CoD
-
On console, I dabbled with it in Halo. I sniped the majority of the time in my time spent in CoD. Started Destiny with a shotty, and then recently moved back to sniping. In gaming, I was sniping in Counterstrike, Q2, and TFC back in the 90's.

Started in Halo, but I'm more of a Jack-of-all-Trades player in most games, with a propensity for sticking. I can play well with most any gun, but I'm probably no master of any of them.

I started in Halo, but I never really caught on to it

For me it started in Quake 2 with the rail gun. I found i preferred the single shot precision weapons (ok I can't really call the railgun a "precision weapon", I was 8 at the time). But i didn't truly get into sniping until Halo 1, it was always the gun i went for. I got good enough to snipe people in moving Warthogs consistently, even when drunk (there is a story there). The slightest sliver of a target and I could snipe it, thus was my level of precision and this continued through to Halo 3. However, there was an issue i didn't pick up on until i started playing my first CoD (MW2). I was too stationary, didn't move much, scoped for to long and was inflexible with my positioning. This couldn't, wouldn't work for MW2. I had to learn to keep moving, learn to aim quicker and take shots quicker. Eventually got to the point i could aim at somone, see where they were in the scope readjust and fire. But i could do all that in the space of a second. I never really considerd myself a quickscoper, i could just scope quickly. I got tagged with the quickscoper brush anyway. Fast forward a few years, CoD incarnations (or Abominations) and i end up on Destiny. I still have my learnt tools, but always learning new things. Like, somtimes its better not to use a sniper and games i feel are trying to phase Snipers out.

Nothing as satisfying as getting a good headshot.

2 Repliesit all started with the railgun in quake 2 & 3 :)

Halo, spent so much time watching mlg competitions seeing the pros pick up the sniper. Taking notes, apply it to my style.
