Actually post upgrade your exotic starts at a higher damage, 302 I think, that's why people, myself included, think it should be necessary to max the exotic before upgrade BUT not require the second exotic shard for upgrade.
Also I remember it being said that they get new perks so it's truly v2. I'm sure their "exotic" perk will still be there, but the other lesser ones will be more useful.

Yeah, the base damage is changing post-patch, but the conversion rates for the XP is standard. I agree, but I believe the exotic upgrades are going to complimented by the next tree's upgrades, which could be a game changer. Let's just hope they aren't über OP haha.

Well, a degree of OP-ness is what makes an exotic [i]exotic[/i], but I'm talking ultra OP, to a point where people complain relentlessly on forums and get it nerfed.
