I loathe scan/survey patrols. Last week I literally went into orbit and landed three times just to not have them. It still took less amount of time than doing them. Usually I will go to an area for a specific reason (kills/materials/public events) so those patrols are an automatic skip.
-
I used to hate them, but once you kill everything in sight 100x over its almost easier to jet over to the scan area, scan, and gtfo. Now if I have to do 6 patrols, I'll usually pick them now. The only places I'll opt for another mission is either Mars or the moon. I won't go into the hellmouth for a scan, because F that place. On Mars I'll still end up trying. If it's too far, I'll just ditch it.

Edited by Cormac: 12/8/2014 9:15:31 PMIt is often faster to hotfoot it to a new location than scour fallen enemies for specific drops. They really aren't that bad especially in a fireteam of three who are spread out across the map. You need to learn which ones are which so you can abort the lengthier trips. My advice is do any kill and collect missions then use a scan or scout mission to take you to a new location where you repeat the process. Accept and abort any that remain before leaving so they might be kill or collect next time. Also worth mentioning you can rinse any kill and collect missions on a planet and then leave to orbit and back to patrol for a fresh batch. Often quicker than returning to start area. Obviously these are only valid tips for people farming patrol missions for rep gains.

What I hate is when you get 2 VIP missions in one area. You do one then go back and the other one changes to something else
-
Gotta cater to the diversely unique gamers. Some people like those missions. If they weren't there, many Destiny fans would most likely complain that there aren't enough different "interactive" patrol missions. So, quit whining, and continue to the next area of the map where there are 2-3 more kill missions.

Does soneone wanna patrol on ps3 for fun?
-
God yes. Thisx1000000
-
Think they need to change them all you seem to do is go in same direction all the time ! needs to Cover all the areas of the planet not just half of it !
-
Actually find the scan ones handy as they are normally in just the neighbouring area. Handy when you've done the other ones and need to move on. Gives you that extra patrol when you do.
-
I usually do salvage, kill, and assassination missions in an area. Once they run out, I grab scan or survey, which leads me to a new area where I can do more kill missions.
-
Yes and no, yeah I usually skip them or abandon them. I'm usually in an area cause I'm waiting for the public event so I want to stay there. However if I'm purely just running patrols then I'll pick them up here and there. I would like to see more variety to them though.
-
I actually like those missions specially when I wanna do the patrols quick
-
They need more of a variety, not less. I'd like to see them add some time limit style missions.
-
Why? They're made to help you move on to the next area so that you can continue doing Patrols. Learn the symbols and simply do them last.
-
Just don't pick them up or quit them
-
Naw. We need the variety. I wouldn't mind MORE types of patrols, although I can't think of any. Scan & survey missions also help players familiarize themselves with the map, maybe explore places that they wouldn't have otherwise.
-
You don't have to do them if you don't like them. Some people may enjoy running these particular patrol missions. It gives something besides just shooting stuff all the time.
-
They could do checkpoint sparrow races
-
I don't mind doing them. The only thing I do mind is relevence to the area. Like wtf, one has me going from one end of the map to the other.
-
Fastest way to get through 6 patrols, why would they? Just ignore them.
-
I dislike the triangular 'kill a certain enemy type'. Those ones often times require me changing areas (i.e. there's only 2 dregs that spawn in this area). Also, they seem to be randomly generated as far as how many drops you need to complete it and how often they drop from killed enemies. I could get a docking caps mission that I could finish in 15 seconds or one that takes 10 minutes.
-
*bungie you suck give us something to do, all my missions are over too fast, this will never hold me ten years* *BUNGIEEEEE YOU SUUUUUCK, why does everything take so damn Long, make it so i get shits done faster!* seriously guys you oughta MAKE UP YOUR MIND!
-
Yeah let's change the game for thousands of people just because one guy doesn't like a certain element -__-
-
When people have nothing else to complain about they post things like this..
-
Some of us like getting finished with these pointless, boring, repetitive patrols in a few minutes.
-
Just don't do them and go to another area. It really isn't that hard.
