• Resetting progress on the exotics we have already leveled should not be a choice we have to make to keep these weapons/armor relevant. So many players have invested time and resources into these weapons, and to have to throw that away and do it all again for the weapon to stay competitive, we feel betrayed and discouraged from playing any further. I'm not asking for instant or free upgrades, and I come bearing suggestions. Instead of a reset, add 2/3 more upgrade nodes on the end of current exotics. By doing this, you could remove Xur from the equation in a number of ways and for several good reasons. This could also remove the RNG from the process by involving other Tower NPCs. There are many good options to consider here that don't involve us having to reset these items completely, and I hope you take the time to look these over. Adding extra upgrade nodes to the exotics, either outright or with a purchased item, is the best idea I can think of. This will allow us to stay at our current light and damage levels, as well as maintain any unique effects we have earned, and still be at a power level capable of the new level 30 daily and nightfall challenges. This also allows us to continue using these items in those activities so that we can earn XP towards those new nodes and light 32/attack 320, instead of having to rely only on swapping them in when we turn in bounties because they are weak again. Xur should not be involved in the process at all for so many reasons. Only having him available on the weekends has been frustrating since launch, and now you want to tie him to more interactions? Please don't do this. What about PlayStation exclusive exotics? Is Xur ever going to sell the "upgrade" for those, or will they not be an option, much like his normal inventory? Not to mention the way he functions entirely on RNG. What if, as has been proven with a few select armor pieces, he never sells certain weapon "upgrades" that are on his inventory list? Speaking of things he has never sold, as someone still trying to get Heart of Praxic Fire, I resent that exotic engrams no longer appear to be in his inventory in that screenshot, but I digress. There are several solutions here, the best in my opinion is outlined early in my post. Adding nodes to the current exotics removes Xur and the "upgrades" from the process entirely, making for an overall smoother transition of our current exotics to the new standard power level. Alternatively, you could make the gunsmith more than an ammo vendor and class leaders more often visited by placing the weapon and armor "upgrade items" on those NPCs, respectively. If you are absolutely dead set on Xur being involved then at least make him a permanent addition to the tower, with a 7 day rotation on his normal inventory and an option similar to "Reforge" from the recent Iron Banner that adds the new nodes to your current exotics. We shouldn't have to hope and pray that the exotic we are wanting to upgrade will be there this week. All options should be available to people who want to take their exotic items to the next level. The gunsmith could carry "primary, secondary, and heavy upgrade" items, very similar to his current ammo packs, that when used add nodes to the exotic equipped in that slot. The class vendors could hold all 6 of the current exotics for each class, or just a single "armor upgrade" item. The weapons could be split among faction vendors, 6 each for the 18 weapons available that this would apply to. In both cases these could be purchased with the marks that these vendors currently accept, making them more than material exchange currency after the DLC. I'm sure there are other great suggestions in this thread as well, these are just some I have come up with and seen in threads the past 12 hours. Regardless, if they must stay as "upgrade items" that we have to purchase, at the very least don't reset our exotics' progress. Make the "upgrades" we buy from these vendors add the extra nodes I mentioned earlier. Don't charge us glimmer or coins for an "upgrade" that resets all the glimmer and materials we put into the item already, just so that we can spend more time, glimmer, and materials on leveling it up all over again. That just isn't right. I apologize to any who made it this far, this ended up much longer than I intended when I started writing. Those who took the time, thank you. If you didn't, I don't blame you, but it's not a page of ranting. I only hope that something in here resonates strong enough to break through the noise and make a change in time for it to matter.
