Is Anybody Else Pissed About The New Currency?
Vanguard/Crucible Commendations seem like unnecessary roadblocks that are there to simply stop players from reaching level 30 too fast, and invest even more time in the game. I could understand if Gear and Weapons required EITHER a Commendation or certain amount of Marks, but no. It requires BOTH. It takes at least one and a half to two weeks for a casual to rank up, so that's maybe 1 piece of armor per week or 2. I don't know about you guys, but I despise this system.
Edit 1: Whoa, 800 replies. It seems like the community is split on this one. I'm still not all for the idea. As I said, if weapons/armor required marks OR a commendation, I'd be fine. But it requires both (from what I understand).

2 RepliesConsidering I'm only crucible rank 3 and vanguard rank 5...it's really stupid. Just means I have to play more crucible I wasn't intending to. Like gettings the marks wasn't a beating enough, you gotta get something else. All this to mention that you are now deterred from joining factions because now you won't get the commendations. Not even sure how to put down all I'm thinking about it, other than I think it's just a stupid idea.

you do nightfall on reset you get 500 REP then do heroic w/ nightfall buff and you will get 499 rep. that's already almost 1k rep. lets say an average 300-500 on daily bounty not to mention the each patrol gives you rep. based on my experience i can level up a faction or vanguard at least once a week if you really try i leveled it up 3x max a week. now if you have 3 guardians that's still easy as pie.

Let's see: Glimmer Vangaurd marks Crucible marks Strange coins Spinmetal Spirit blooms Relic iron Helium filaments Motes of light Ascendant energy Ascendant shards Black wax idols (surprise ...eris will sell stuff for them) Radiant energy (new eris raid currency) Radiant shards (new eris raid currency) Vanguard commendation Crucible commendation And i'm sure that's just the beginning. So many more currencies they can still add along with more reputation meters Maybe some iron banner tokens, house of wolves challenge coins, trials of Osiris tickets, Another vex raid with axiomatic anal Beeds, The list goes on for 10 years. Edit1- Exotic shards Iron medallions Nice catch guys. So many currencies I can't keep up.

Grind away. It really doesn't take much to get a faction rank, just an hour or so of gameplay with intent. Do bounties, and bring a friend or two.

It's perfectly fine. Allows you to get to level 30 without any raid/IB gear. I'm happy they don't just hand it out. It lets those who are missing a piece of gear acquire it but doesn't let people flat out buy 30 gear all at once.

I'm fine with the system. What I'm curious about, is how vanguard/crucible commendations are acquired, and by that I mean, will we get Vanguard commendation for a Vanguard rep level up, and Crucible commendation for Crucible rep level up? What about factions? What about Cryptarch? These are level ups worthy of legendary mail as well, so how will it determine which commendation award to give us for different factions or cryptarch, assuming standard vanguard is vanguard and standard crucible is crucible?

1 Replywell in all fairness it did take a majority of the level 30s a few weeks+ to get their armor from raiding... why should someone be able to buy level 30 in 1 week

Why does everyone think they made it to the top and now they want a free ride for the rest of the game? You want stuff faster play more. You want more money in life work more. It’s the same thing, you pick what is important to you and make it happen. Don’t cry and take the challenge away from the rest of us who might like. Not everyone has the time to put in to have all 3 characters max level. Not everyone can buy a 2 million dollar house either. So please pick to play the game as designed or not. I can see broken game mechanics as something to bitch about but not this.

5 RepliesThe way i see it is you had to do a raid in order to reach lvl 30, if bungie started to sell lvl 30 gear then it should be just as hard to acquire for me it seems only fair. They give a new method to get past 29 but its not a hand out you have to put in the work just like in a raid. I am just glad i can get lvl 30 gear now but, you can always run the vog to get lvl 30 gear that is still an option. This is just my opinion.

The game had a nice mmo feel early,now with all the patches its beginning to feel like a boring straight line shooter game. I and many others will be done With destiny after the first 2 DLC installs. Unless the pve players start getting some respect back. Another awesome game is going to hell in many gamers eyes because some is listening to one sides complaints( PVP ) .

1 ReplyYou know there are going to be some MAJOR parachutes on this stuff right? How else will they slow down our grind until the next gear reset/DLC? Even with two days off this week, a $#!+ ton of coins, exotic shards, glimmer, motes and everything else, I am sure I will be at the same progress as the guy who plays twice a week for two hours.

They are level 31 gear. You really think Bungie will let people buy them up so quick? They get you a higher level than the Vault of Glass that people have been grinding for months!

More like annoyed. I remembering leveling up my alt and it was really handy to be able to buy two pieces of armor at once - but for some stupid reason that will soon be a thing of the past. I'm just getting tired of Bungie finding new ways to limit our play. Expand how you play my shiny metal ass. I know this is an FPS game with MMO mechanics. I just didn't realize they were going to focus so heavily on the bad mechanics.
