Will Black Hammer dethrone Icebreaker?

Its impact is notably higher then Icebreakers (32 while Icebreaker's is 25) and it has the new perk "White Nail" with the effect "Rapidly landing three precison shots will refill the magazine."
This means that even though you only have 3 shots in the mag, it is functionally infinite once you are landing only precision shots. The dps this will have on bosses is crazy.
I think people are going to be praying for this drop and it will be a "must have". Especially since it frees up your exotic spot. THe only thing Icebreaker has on it is that it's much more forgiving and you don't need to land precisions.

Loveee the black hammer,,, phogoth.. Can beat it and he never fires a shot and you never have to reload,, same with vex and archon priest

Ice Breaker is still on top, but he Black Hammer definitely has it's uses. It's a close second for me when I want to use Gjallarhorn.

BH is better than IB on anything you can land precision shots on reliably. IB for anything else.

Nope not even you might gain additiinal ammo with bh but ice breaker generates ammo all the time

Only thing I'm missing from crota on my hunter is the helmet so I can swap out my exotics as I want, and the fusion rifle. Otherwise got the lot on my hunter, also have chests on my Titan and lock so need the other raid items for them hoping to get lucky this week

Black Hammer is undoubtedly better, but the Icebreaker is much more forgiving and I feel like it's going to get a lot more use simply because of its ease-of-operation. Landing three headshots in a row can be something of a daunting task, and all icebreaker has to do to regen ammo is to wait a moment.

Well, it is the weapon on top on my wishlist... I'd rather want that than Gjallar-jallahhorn. I didn't get it this week :-(

I can tell you even if the icebreaker gets a damage buff in the new DLC the hammer will still definitely have its place. As does the icebreaker. I have both, the icebreaker is good for areas where it is tougher to get a critical hit IE witches flying around / Valus Ta'auric with his little head that is hard to hit while shrouded in armor from the sides and back. The hammer is an absolute monster against against enemies with larger / more accessible critical hit areas: IE: walkers, the tank on the Valus Ta'auric mission, the Arcon Priest and his big head, Prime, etc. I counted 36 straight criticals on the tank one time, needless to say we killed it very quickly. We beat the Arcon Priest with this gun and he never had a chance to move out his original spawn. In conclusion Icebreaker is still beast and hammer is mega beast when used correctly. The addition of the Hammer just makes both guns situational instead of using the icebreaker all the time, which I like.

Using what I had on me, so I pull out my 2/3 upgraded Black hammer at one point. Never used it before in a situation where I could consistently get Crits. Using my lvl 30 Titan, after popping weapons of light, I step into relic bubble and atheon actually stands still for a while. Crit for 17k Crit for 17k Crit for 17k I pause to look and sure enough, full mag waiting for me. Crit for 17k Normal hit for under 7k Crit for 17k Reload frantically to get back to ungodly dps... Normal hit for under 7k Crit for 17k Normal hit.... Time to bubble and retreat. Lesson learned: with the rate of fire on this gun, and unlimited ammo. IF and big If, you can hit Atheon with all 3 crits 2 or 3 times in a row. You've just made Gjallerhorn obsolete. Holy RNGESUS ! Cannot wait to use this on a walker, archon priest, sepiks (ha!), ogres, etc. already used it on rockets mcdickface and his tank to great effect. All that said, I still wish I had an Icebreaker and a Gjallerhorn. Any other ideas for good places to lay the hammer down?

For slow bullet sponge bosses, its perfect. For regular ads, its just a legendary sniper. Icebreaker is better overall as its always good.

Black hammer literally rips through the Templar... When my raid team all have it killing him will be as easy as cheesing him back in the day! I still prefer ice breaker but black hammer is better in certain situations.

I've ran outta ammo with that gun the load of times just because I missed one shot. Icebreaker allows u to miss as much shots as u want and u will still have ammo so no black hammer is awesome but not in the same class as icebreaker

Both guns have their uses the black hammer is great on immobile targets while Icebreaker never runs out of ammo.

It's def. a must have. When upgraded to the 4th to last in the tree (for damage) I'm doing 19k on atheon with basically 18 shots and a slight wait between them for 25 seconds on times vengeance. And never having to reload.

No I don't care how many Hammers I get Icebreaker stays right with me. I'm going to use that sucker till it breaks or they come up with another damage modifier for Icebreakers

If it regenerated ammo yes. Ice breakers recoil is atrocious.
