I can't be the only who finds that strange, can I??
*edit*
Consensus seems to be that we need to push the cell off the cliff into the blue lava instead of releasing him, because the Archon Priest had a shotgun enema before he was captured. Also, jumbo colonoscopy if his gun misfires.
*Edit 2*
Angus109 - " He was most probably cheesed into it by DoT grenades"
*Edit 3*
For all those saying it isn't his actual cell need to play the strike again. Dinklebot specifically says" it's a cell, from the prison of elders. The Archon Priest is still inside" as soon as you enter the area where the cell is.

1 ReplyGuess you could say hiding that gun was a (puts on glasses) pain in the ass
-
Because ... video games?
-
7 RepliesBecause that pod isnt his prison it restores his soul, he just finishs as you get there you dont let him out, plus if the fallen put him there it makes sense they would give him armour and guns :)
-
1 ReplyMy guess is that they were meant to pull a walt disney in a sense, frozen until needed, and he was going to be released to war straight from freeze.
-
12 RepliesWhy do the guardians let it out instead of: 1) blow it up 2) push it off the cliff into the lava 3) blow it up and push it into the lava

7 RepliesHahahaahahahshshssh

4 RepliesI don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain.

This is not the prison of elders....they stole(released,he's a fellow fallen type) him from there to be used as a weapon or something
-
3 RepliesHe is one tough son of a bitch. I wouldn't mind him showing up in another future strike....maybe the reef strike...maybe he teleported when we thought we killed him...maybe the queen (with the strange relationship with her brother) is pissed cause we didn't finish the job
-
4 RepliesEdited by Brokenspade: 12/8/2014 1:14:54 AMThe prison of elders is an old folks home not a jail. In the fallen tounge archon means grandpa. His family missed him and brought him home. The queen put a bounty on him cause they didn't pay his last months housing fee.
-
I guess he was just to powerful for the guardians to capture so they set a trap and just trapped him with whatever he had on him.
-
4 RepliesHe was not imprisoned. He was hiding, because he heard that Chuck Norris was coming.
-
That's almost as strange as characters from Sponge Bob going to the beach....when they already live under the sea.
-
5 RepliesWhy can't we just push his damn cell over the edge!
-
He was so dangerous that when they incapacitated him slightly they didn't bother taking the time to remove his armor or peel his shrapnel launcher from his death grip before icing him. I mean, they would have killed them if they had what it takes, right? Or if you don't like that, he was such a warmonger he had his gun welded to his right hand.

2 RepliesSame as Payday 2 Logic. Can wear the heaviest armor available. Can carry a fifty caliber sniper rifle, fully loaded assault rifle with spare ammo. Can carry two ammo bags or two medic bags. Can carry three grenades. Can only carry 1 keycard.

Haha, never really thought of it. I don't pay too much attention to all the nonsense they say at the beginning of the missions. Since bungie failed to put any of it's story bits in context, I just don't pay attention.

3 RepliesRay...when someone asks you if you're a god, you say YES!

1 ReplyIn the beginning epilogue it said that he was broken out of the prison of elders on the reef and that they were restoring his soul so my guess is that the capsule is the soul restorer.

Archon priest is in prison for molesting dregs.
