Coming from a background of Borderlands and other loot based games, I think the upgrade path is a fantastic way to eliminate power creep. A lot of folks here on the forums need to learn that not everything is going to be handed to them on a silver platter, and it should stay that way

You don't have to level up weapons in Borderlands, so you don't really expect them to be as strong as a new set. Personally I feel aggrieved because looking at the bigger picture, we're gonna have to level them up again when House of wolves DLC is released and so on until we reach Bungies end game. Shows the lack of preparation and knowledge of how to implement their slight level cap increases, it's not really an 'option' to upgrade our items, it's a necessity and one that they've screwed up in developing.
"Handed to them on a silver platter"
Are you joking? Do you know how much time we've spent collecting and levelling our exotics? The silver platter is being handed to NEW players who haven't spent any time collecting exotic gear. In fact, new players will have a huge lead on vets who have been playing for months because they won't have to dismantle or "re-upgrade" the new exotics they get (plus an extra 7000 glimmer AND 7 strange coins a pop).
