6 RepliesI'd be okay with the upgrade system if the choice of what I upgraded wasn't random/based on Xur's inventory. I'm gonna end up using the same gear as everyone else despite my wide array of exotics that I've earned in the last 3 months. If Xur's repeated sale of the Armamentarium and Voidfang Vestments is indicative of anything, the truth of this upgrade system is that the community is going to be stuck using the same 3 or so exotics across the entire playerbase. Also, the cost is exorbitant. You're saying that the 20 or so hours of gameplay it takes to level up an exotic is meaningless, and that we should be okay with reinvesting that time on every exotic we have, along with the time it takes to gather 7 strange coins and 7000 glimmer. And then we have to reinvest time to level up the gun again and get 7 more strange coins. Why did Bungie think that this kind of time sink was acceptable? This is not good game design at all. The only difference between an upgraded exotic and a normal exotic is 30+ hours of grinding. Where's the gameplay? If you want it to take a long time to unlock an exotic's powers, why didn't you make special missions related to the exotic gun that give the upgrades as a reward? At least then getting an exotic gun would be like getting a special adventure to do. As it stands, getting an exotic actually sounds completely undesirable because of how much time the weapons require you to do repetitive tasks. Time is infinitely valuable Bungie. It's the one resource we can never get back. Being disrespectful of your customer's time is even worse than ripping them off of their money. I'd rather buy buggy, broken games like Assassin's Creed Unity than buy a single Bungie title after this. I regret buying your product. I regret playing your product. I thought Destiny was an underrated gem until today. Now I feel like I played a freemium game that took my money just to be taken offline after a few months because the developers didn't care about the way people viewed their company. You got my money this time Bungie, but never again.
