I think it's an awesome idea and most of the people upset with it don't fully understand it. I feel a lot of people will change their mind when it's drops. Just my opinion though. Either way thanks for giving me the option to upgrade my favorite exotics, now they will be usable in the new raid.

  • Just my opinion, being an idiot on purpose is worse than a natural idiot.

  • My opinion differing from yours does not in any way mean I'm an idiot nor do I think anyone else is an idiot for disliking the idea upgrading exotics. It fits my play style, enough said. If your going to comment to be a complete ass for no reason and no logic behind you comment go somewhere else.

  • we understand the changes completely. we are being asked to grind out upgrades for guns we have already upgraded in order to stay competitive

  • No you can stay competitive by getting the new weapons and gear, just as you did the 1st time around. This is a way to keep your current exotics from falling behind. You have the opportunity to re level if you like that particular one with the benefit being extra attack/defense/light level. It is costly, but well worth it if you really like a certain item. As far as re leveling the item. Almost everything you do in the game gives you experience, if you truly enjoy playing the game then you can get it back to fully leveled by simply playing. Or you can grind it out quicker. For example- I just got the vex last week, a day and a half later it was fully maxed. And it was very easy considering I have 3 characters and had fusion rifle telemetries.

  • First tell me what you think is crappy about it and I will explain why I disagree.

  • You mean why is paying tons of glimmer and coins for the privilege of not getting to play with new exotics and instead doing a bunch of grinding to gain xp, materials, and glimmer WHICH YOU HAVE ALREADY USED in order to get a whopping 20 more attack crappy? Mostly because it shows what massive trolling wastes of oxygen Bungie is that they can't even understand the difference between fun and grinding. Because that's all this expansion is. Grinding. Are they offering a bunch of new planets and missions to explore and play as we grind? No. Every guardian who is level 28 or higher next Tuesday will be less powerful than they are right now, underpowered for weekly nightfall and heroic strikes and suddenly looking forward not to new content but to grinding as far as the eye can see. In exchange we'll get a few story missions. A raid most people can't play without grinding rep, and a bunch of exotics we won't use because we're busy trying to upgrade the ones we have. Didn't get lucky with rng? Too bad go grind rep. Just got a raid weapon? Too bad it's not a mythoclast because it's crap now. Don't worry though, because for the low price of making all your hard work mean absolutely nothing, 7k glimmer, and an exotic shard, you can make your favourite exotic as relatively powerful as it is right now. They completely lack understanding as to what makes a game fun, and the free market will destroy them in time, and they'll have only themselves to blame. In the meantime what's the point of trying to progress? Next week they'll completely change how things are done and wipe away your work in an instant. I've said for awhile that the biggest problem with this game is the disconnect between what you do and what you get. Now the circle is complete and even the guaranteed avenues to progress have been torn down.

  • I'm still confused on your complaint. If you don't want the option to upgrade your current exotics, then what did you want then to do about your current exotics being less effective than the new ones? Did you expect them to automatically buff them up to dlc level? That sounds extremely boring. If you don't like to grind why in the ef are you playing game that consists of mostly grinding? I can only imagine that when reset the low end dmg will be 300 with being 320/323. If that's the case I also imagine a weapon must be fully upgraded before you can reset it. Idk either way it doesn't bother me. I may not be a casual gamer but I do have a full time job and a family. I understand time is precious but if it takes too much time then either don't play the game or lag behind with the rest of the casual gamers. My best advise is to find some people who play the same amount as you and/or same time. It's much easier and more enjoyable to do things such as raid and nightfall with friends.

  • The nature of the complaint is that your progress doesn't matter. Not your progress doesn't matter when the dlc releases. Your progress doesn't matter ever. And when the dlc releases instead of using former progress as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, you will instead have all your progress completely reset so you can reprogress to where you already were. They've moved the goal post and said "look at all this exciting stuff we added isn't that great?" Forgetting that the illusion that we were making progress before was all that made the grind feel like fun instead of drudgery. Am I going to be able to do the nightfall and weekly heroics next Tuesday? Nope, gotta regrind. Ok well am I gonna get to regrind in at least a different setting? Nope same old same old. Go do the story if you want but never you fear that on day two we'll be back in Cosmodrome farming rep, and back on Nexus farming marks. And then xur will come and maybe we'll get a chance to do all the work we've already done on exotics over again. Worse now I never know when I should just stop bothering. If xur sells ice breaker I know not to bother leveling it. Had I known last week about this I wouldn't have bothered dumping any exp in plan c. The lack of any advance notice of a massive change to systems in place that provides zero QoL improvements to players is galling, and smacks of a game they know is not worth playing. But as with all MMOs, it's still worth playing with friends. You're right that nightfalls and raids are a lot of fun with friends. But my friends and I can easily find another game if Bungie insists on making it clear they don't want us playing theirs.

  • Where did they say you can buy the upgrade for an exotic that you have already upgraded? I must have missed that part. If you can take a stock ice breaker for example and buy the upgrade for it. Which will automatically make it 302 attack dmg then yes I can see how frustrating that is, but to me it only makes that a requirement to upgrading a weapon/armor to next "tier" be that it is already fully upgraded on the 1st "tier".

  • Where have they said you must fully upgrade a weapon before trade in? Nowhere. And honestly that's more frustrating in a lot of ways because now you're not upgrading an exotic you've been using. You are upgrading a base exotic and then undoing it all Whichever of us is right it's one more failing of their worthless community manager. His JOB is communicating with us. Not even mentioning some of these key points is a pretty critical failure. We wouldn't even "know" the trade ins come with 302 attack if all we had was his info. Glad he can joke elsewhere about being drunk during meetings but can't bother to answer concerns people actually have and clear up confusion that's his own damn fault. He didn't design this thing, but he sure as hell isn't explaining it.

  • They didn't say that you must fully level an item before it can be upgraded from xur. That's my point, they didn't say one way or another. Idk I still don't think I'll mind either way but hopefully it's not as bad as you think it'll be.

  • Well that hope is one thing we can agree on. And the not knowing either way was my point too actually. The frustration of not knowing makes it all worse.

If u were like me and had the vex maxed before this patch, it was automatically updated to higher damage when the patch was installed. So they do it for vex but not the others. Instead they add rng to the equation. You have to hope xur has it and you farmed enough mats just to get the rexurbished edition of the same gun. Also, you think it's an awesome.idea that bungie has allowed your exotics to remain relevant. I'm glad people out there are still.the "glass half full" type. Think about it this way though. If all the exotics that are out now became obsolete, how many guns does that leave in the game? Only the handful of new ones right? So there was no possible way bungie could make the old guns obsolete. Instead they found a way to create busy work and make you lvl your guns again. Don't forget, hard mode.of new raid will not be out until January and i believe they said raid weapons are only dropped in hard mode. All.of this is just a way to keep everyone playing until 2nd expansion.

  • It's only primaries that will be held for hard mode. And yes you are probably right about keeping us grinding and not introducing enough new weapons to keep is satisfied but what if you still liked a previous legendary more than a current one? At least now I will have the choice between new and old gear. Yea I may be thinking glass half full but it honestly sounds like a good idea to me. There are things that may stink about. Like you already pointed out- waiting for xur to carry a certain upgrade that you want. However I am a little hopeful he will be a less rng and did you see the amount of upgrades he will hold each week? It should take 3 weeks max for him to sell all different types providing he isn't random as shit lol

Thats what we hope for but wait till you see suros, voidfang, armamamamenemtium, and sunbreakers take up 4 of the slots for 6 weeks straight! lol Also...what happens to Monte Carlo and Hawkmoon? No upgrades for a year? They added rng to gear we already own. That's never a good thing. Another thing I don't like is that I have 3 to 4 exotic armor pieces maxed on all my characters and I've gotten multiples of each of those pieces. I like to play knowing I chose the one with stats I liked and have the build I wanted. Now everyone will own the same exact stat armor piece.

  • I was wondering the same about the playstation exclusives. Hopefully they will be upgrade able as well. Did it say it would change the str/int/disc stat when you choose to upgrade? Not sure I would like that.

  • Am I starting to show u why this method may be a bad idea? lol Given the fact that we knew they would let us somehow upgrade our old exotics, they should have just added 3 more upgrade nodes. It's that easy....
