Your Raid Gear can now be bought?
So from one of the recent news updates it states that there is better legendary gear coming to the Tower, will require a new currency to actually purchase, but basically it sounds like the reason for this is so people who aren't level 30 can get to it by purchasing this gear.
So is anybody out there upset at this? That the precious raid gear you spent numerous hours grinding in hopes Rng would bless you with can be equaled by vendor armor?
Note: this is under assumption that the gear does in fact get you to level 30, which I think is reasonable considering it is stated to be better, and the higher level requirement for the new raid would require everyone to grind VoG until they were acceptable level to even attempt Dark Below.
Edit: Some are saying the new gear will not just get you to 30 but actually 31 and will out class the VoG raid gear. Assuming this to be true what are your thoughts?
Edit 2: also add in the fact that night falls and weeklies will be boosted to level 30 to 'keep up' with the new gear and enemies.
Edit 3: Some people seem to be under the impression that I'm upset about this news and don't want it to happen. That is not the case, I merely wish to survey the community's response to this news, and if said response is negative, what individual people would rather see happen.

Did you think VoG gear would be carried over to destiny 2? Weapons will be less effective as will gear, it happens in EVERY -blam!-ING level progressing game when level caps are raised....

I'm not competitive during gaming (except with myself) so I don't care if they can get to level 32 buying gear. I'm playing because I like the game. Flaws and all.

1 ReplyWho cares? I got my 3 pieces of raid gear in my first 2 runs. Luckily. But I know people that have raided 30-40 times that still can't get boots. Why should they be held back because they are unlucky? I personally hate the RNG system in this game.

I think that the new legendary gear should be light 30, not 31 or 29. The vog great should have better attributes, and outclass the gear you can purchase that way... But the next raid will be 32 hard, so legendary gear needs to be 31. Unless they change the level off the raid, vendor great had to stay 31.

2 RepliesMy opinion is that new legendary gear should only be increased with 1 or 2 extra light leaving it under the VoG raid gear still. It will be impossible to reach 30 without full raid or at least 2, a redo of an exotic(to give you more than 30 light) and one fully maxed piece of legendary(the maxed new legendary and exotic will count as 2 pieces of raid this way, but still require gameplay). Anyone agree???

I don't mind. I've gotten the benefit of being a 30 for a long, long time. It's time to let those who've had trouble catch up and enjoy the game. Especially since there are new tiers of gear coming out

2 RepliesI don't mind it too much. Yea I had to run raids and get have a little luck on my side to get my gear. However, something happened and I had a lot of fun and made friends for this game along the way! The vendor gear allows players to not have to farm vog for weeks before being able to even attempt the new one

So many seemed to treat this game like the launch content was all there would ever be and cracked out on things like the raid thinking they could "catch em all" and be.... I don't know what? Done? "Win" a game with a 10 year plan in the first few months? Naïve at best, far worse things at worst. Oh well, it is interesting to watch.

3 RepliesIf I recall it correctly. if you are level 30, once you complete a story mission you'll get boosted to 31 then you'll need to raid to get 32. Could be wrong but pretty sure I remember reading that (not trolling)

I believe the post said that the new armor would have higher defense stats, but said nothing about light level.

2 RepliesI'm quite sure the gear will allow u to reach lvl 31. Look back to reg vanguard gear. U could reach 29. So i think the pattern will stick. Yes it does allow players to reach 30 but they have changed it somewhat by adding the commendations needed to purchase gear. Now it takes about a week to reach a new rank in vanguard so it not going to be fast by any means.

Think this games gonna die if they reset our maxed weapons. That is if people arent retarded enough to do the leveling of the same guns they worked hours of farming and raiding energies on again. Im not and if they reset my guns im out.

I'll play the game regardless of what happens.. I like playing with friends and socializing.. I don't care if people can just buy level 30 gear.. It's more about how you get it then just getting it. Like I got my raid gear with five of my friends, got an exotic helmet, and was level 30. I was level 30 before ever trying the hard raid.. Imo you shouldn't do it until level 30 but I will accept level 29s in the hard raid as long as they have maxed weapons and aren't a liability.

Edited by CrimsonVlk23: 12/4/2014 7:32:01 PMIt will take awhile to get, you'll need 4 commendations to fill all 4 slots and unless you're a super hardcore player it will take you a few weeks to get 4 ranks of vanguard, crucible will probably take even longer since you hardly get any rep/marks for a match regardless of win or lose. All Dark Below does is make the hamster wheel a little bigger and the dangling carrot a little smaller.

I will buy the new gear but I will keep my raid helmet and probably shard everything but depends on how good and what perks the new raid gear has my raid boots can carry extra heavy ammo

In a way it will be kindof nice. I can finally get rid of these boots that make me lose all my heavy ammo!

I don't care. If it will get me to 31 and/or have new abilities, I'll probably buy it myself even though I have full raid gear and will be getting some from Crota's End eventually. Half the fun of the raids is running it with 5 other people or close friends.

I don't mind and will like having different looks out there. Of course once people start getting CE gear that will change and everyone will look the same again

2 RepliesIt's like you people have never played a mmorpg (or a game that's quite similar) before. "Oh my gawd the game is expanding and I have to work to remain relevant!" *runs down the street screaming and crying* What did you think was going to happen? It's the same dynamic in the dlc as it is now: People will be able to buy legendary gear to get them part of (but not all) the way to current max level, and you'll have to run/grind the Raid to truly hit the current max. HOW'S THAT ANY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?
