I see this as activision inspired... prestige your gear for a small increase. If there where more incentive then I could see a reason but if it's just a small stat increase its not going to be worth the delay on armor.
Example: my titan defender is level 29 (missing helm for 30) with the alpha lupi chest. This chest is instrumental in normal raid as I play the role of medic. The new crota raid will be on normal mode and begin at 30 light level. Nightfall will be boosted to 30 light level. But to keep my chest piece relevant I have to forgo the content until I build that chest piece back up from scratch? Or forgo the support role I play by using a different chest piece I can receive by random in the raid?
It's hard enough to get a raid group for the hard raid at lvl 29 as it is. Not to mention no guarantee of getting the helm and the chest any time soon. So the current setup is denying players from the play style they have grown a custom to.
My suggestion more incentive aka more perks added in the tree that are worth the time. Or a way to keep the current light level attained So we don't have to chose between progression and adventure.
The weapons don't bother me as much as the damage output on exotics is as you made in the last post "narrow" so I don't see too much hassle there to keep say my suros or icebreaker.
All in all I will adapt and overcome. I only ask that you look at the cons of the armor upgrade idea and entertain a game plan that will keep us moving forward while enjoying the new content instead of backtracking just to keep our favored armor.
