While this is not ideal I am not frustrated by this like many others. I have seen far worse options in other games. In most once new content comes out your old gear is junk. At least here we have an option to keep it if we choose. And I'm being realistic, I only use about 5-6 of my exotic weapons. So I don't need to upgrade every weapon, only the ones I use. I understand why people are frustrated and upset but to me this seems like a decent compromise. Don't send hate, I get it, I know why you're upset. But in the long run you can choose to roll with this, keep your current gear, or quit playing. No one is forcing you in to any of this at gun point. Good luck Gaurdians.
