Hell no, you are lucky exotics aren't just becoming completely obsolete

I'd rather max out a new exotic than max out an exotic I've already maxed.

I agree, that too. I will be much more focused on getting new gear than upgrading old gear. But there are a few pieces I will probably hold on to

In their current state they are, along with all legendaries (can accept that). However to say that new and maxed exotics carry the same weight going forward is wrong.
