Beware of kermitTHEfrog
To all fellow guardians,
Please watch out for PSN: kermitTHEfrog
I have a friend on ps4 who has a couple of higher level characters and has been playing since the game came out. He was nice enough to show me a lot of what I now, know how to do in the game as a result. His gf also plays destiny. She has slaved for months since day zero doing the daily grind, day in and day out farmed all the materials to get her warlock to level 30. I haven't even gotten to 30 and I've been playing for months. She also did it the real way not by buying the materials using marks but by farming them spending HOURS...
She was at the tower a few days ago when a fellow level 30 (kermitTHEfrog) sent her a message complimenting her raid gear and mentioned how he had never used the Gjallahorn before. He asked if she wanted to raid with him and his group. After joining the party, he was very sincere and nice complimenting her warlock. She had a lot of my buddy's exotics on her character as well. He asked her is she would be nice enough to SHAREPLAY... She said of course thinking everything would be fine and they would raid together after...
Boy was she wrong....
The most horrifying thing that could ever happen to any fellow guardian was about to happen....
This mother -blam!-er kermitTHEfrog DELETED my friends gf's LEVEL 30 warlock in front of her eyes and she could do nothing about it.
In the time it took for him to log in to shareplay, and go straight to deleting the character she couldn't react fast enough.
I am writing this because last night I had a nightmare after hearing this story that my guardian was erased from existence. Laugh if you want but imagine spending all that time on something and it being ripped away from you without warning because you did something out of the goodness in your heart.

Whoever it is is probably somewhat of a sociopath and gets off thinking about the horror his victims experience when they find their characters deleted. The fact that this latest victim was streaming was probably very exciting for said sociopath - he got to watch / listen to the reaction of the sad 11-year-old boy crying when he realized what had happened. And you people who think this kid deserved this for being tricked into possibly using an exploit are messed up. This kid did not deserve this. Having characters that you have built up and become attached to deleted against your will is so not cool. If you see this as justified vigilante punishment against cheaters / exploiters, there is something wrong with you. I hope you are plagued by cheaters and exploiters for the rest of your gaming days. Any punishment against a player should come from the game's management, or in the case of a child, from their parents. What this sick person did is sick. Watching the video and hearing the kid cry when he realized what had happened to his characters made me tear up as well. So sad. Straight up bullying and sociopathic.

Some players do not believe its authenticity however this is irrelevant, since the video seems to be successfully making Destiny players more aware regarding who and when share play is used. I personally believe that the video has done far more good than bad since the needs of the many are more important than the needs of the few. Be careful guardians.

3 RepliesThere's a post on gamespot (i think) about this whole story...looks like it wasn't kermit! Kermit is a 26 old guy who suffered a head on car collision a few months ago and has been recuperating in bed half a sleep due to pain medication ...he has lots of friends and people coming and going visiting him at his mom's house, even family kids! They are not sure who's messing with his acount, but the whole story is was confirmed by his mom with police report from the accident, medical bills, etc. Even playstation network is involved...

Just an update: PSN has dusted KirmitTHEFROG. Bungie based on their user agreements could do absolutely nothing as Kermit didn't infringe on Bungies code of ethics for playing, however he did infringe on the rules of Shareplay and Sony took swift ninja justice. Looks like frogger for Kermit :)

2 RepliesQuestion here ... why won't bungie recover/replace these items ? They have the record of the item/character deletion. All tucked away on their servers ... together with the date/time and ConsoleID on which it happened ... they have all the proof needed to determine validity of the claim ... and yet :( [url=https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/restoration-policy]Other games seem well able to cope[/url] and get around any forms of cheating based on prior recorded ownership, even limiting the recovery to a certain number over a given time ... all setup on a zero overhead web site. How is this viewed as being to hard ... especially when their own mobile app has a similar issue?
