Your secret thoughts about the Templar patch~
Here is a place to air your true thoughts on the templar. I noticed some people tried to put on some false bravado here on the forums.
Personally, Ive already completed my raid collection (minus the Foil and Hezen Vengeance). Regardless, I still do the raid 3 times per week on each character just because its fun.
Here's what I think. Between getting rid of the detainment shield, not running out of heavy ammo, avoiding the Templar's blasts, keeping afloat of the Harpies, staying together for cleansing, and destroying Oracles, the Templar seems about as difficult as the Gatekeeper. (hard mode )
It was kinda fun seeing my raid group disband earlier after our 10th wipe at the Templar. People usually only show their true colors towards the end of the raid, so this was a pleasant surprise.
So, which are you?
Do you embrace the new challenge the Templar poses?
Are you happy you've gotten all your raid gear before they patched him?
Are you delusional and believe it was an actual "strategy"
Are you rational and just enjoyed having a relaxing time pushing the Templar off, and are slightly dissapointed you can no longer do it?
Regardless, its only a matter of time till the community finds an easier way to do it. An hour ago, we were able to beat the Templar by having the 5 other members snipe from up top ( where you kill the Oracles) while I jumped down, fought the harpies, and removed his shield while they laid their fire.
Still, it took about 5 minutes.
tl;dr what are your thoughts on templar 2.0 .

I'm happy it's patched, but it simply took too long. Should have been patched weeks and weeks ago, at least when Atheon was patched. The "cheese" took away a whole section of the VoG. At this point they should have just left it in. I would say a good portion of the community won't step foot back in the VoG once Crota's End is underway. At least not for quite a while.

Honestly I'm kinda bummed they did it just for times sake, the Templar at least in my opinion is the hardest fight of the raid without being able to cheese, everything before or after that is pretty easy provided you have a relatively experienced team with you and the right weapons

In one way I'm a bit upset it was easier to get to Atheon maybe if they would have done the patch were you don't get rewarded for pushing him but pushing him was still an option that would have worked. I do find it harder now that because of all the people who haven't ever killed him out right but it is what it is and we as gamers must press on and find that magical connection and flow to get the job done.

I used to cheese him but tbh, I'm not bothered by the patch, still managed it after the 3rd attempt. I just sit at the top where people sit to do the oracle section, you could call it cheesing I suppose, but tell that to the snipers in the Army in the field who sit miles away to to kill they're target, is that cheesing to?

A lot of comments say that theyre glad they patched it, but the poll says otherwise. That means some of these posts secretly dont like the patch when they say they do. Interesting. There's a question. Why?

I feel that the Templar is harder to beat than Atheon. I'm not saying that he's impossible to beat, or that they shouldn't have patched the cheese, I just think it's unusual that he's harder than the final boss. But anyways I'm glad, for the most part, that they patched it. Except for last night with a lot of team members who'd never done it the real way, and constant wiping... Eventually I did wish we could just push him off an move on, since it was late and I had to get up super early this morning, but we got it eventually.

Idk it's pretty interest how a group of people figured out how to push him off. I don't think I would have had the thought to push him off I would have fought him straight up. I guess they didn't like the fact that someone has ingenuity and found ways to make the grind faster.

i have to say that it is the hardest part of the raid. that said, its not really hard. We did it 3 times last night. Just have to have a crew that knows how to do it

Already 30 with FB, if I'm playing with friends, I don't care, he isn't hard as long as you work together. But 95% of the time I play with LFG people, and that can be a total pain, ran it twice yesterday, no one on my teams had ever done anything but push him. It took a hour to teach one of the teams how to do it, not much fun for me.

The way i look at this, i do welcome the challenge, its just more of a pain now really. See, when the loot table is so random, putting in the extra effort to possibly not get rewarded shit, is just kinda stupid. So cheese to save a decent amount of time was convenient when you're not guaranteed something remotely good or anything. So in my personal opinion, i just found the "cheeseing" as a way to save time, though i also think it was just a form of strategy, but because we dont play exactly how bungie wants us to, its labeled a glitch, which in reality, it's not really a glitch.

1 ReplyWhen my group fought him last night, I was holding the relic and I took down his shield, then dropped the relic. Shot him once with my icebreaker while my friends were shooting him and it glitched or something and he died immediately

It's frustrating that they choose to patch Templar cheese and change the sound that my HardLight makes whilst shooting it, but why can they still not fix Atheon bugs? Why do they implement a new system resetting our progress on exotics and make legendaries a lot less effective in PvE...? Devs are a joke. That's the only solution I can come up with.

If he loot table wasn't a mess then I wouldn't care. I enjoy the challenge but now this removes bringing in ur lvl 28 friends and helping them get gear on hard. I personally have all weapons and possible armor for all 3 characters and have done it post patch but it can be argued that this part is the hardest part in the raid now.

Still doable, and I knew it would be patched the moment I heard it mentioned. I don't care, but I wish actually jumping down and doing it was viable for most groups is all. Oh well. They'll nerf the sniping strategy eventually anyway, but by then I'll be all done with the VoG outside of ascendant farming.

I don't mind. Beat it last night and it took forever though, he's got way to much health/regains shields way to fast. After we beat it though I got fatebringer. I do think the templar is now the hardest part of the raid though.
