  • I can explain how the Hive broke this limit: they have the ability to access a dimension that exists outside of time and space. That realm is not bound by our universes physical limits. They likely store the data there. Or SPACE MAGIC!

          The nutshell version is, that no matter the storage medium, data takes up physical space. Take the platters from a hard drive today and twenty years ago, and the amount of data that can be written to them today is greater, because we are able to store the bits closer together physically. The write heads are more precise in today's hard drives, allowing us to basically cram more into the same space. The Bekenstein boundary is a computationally-derived limit that specifies the theoretical maximum amount of data that could stored in a physical space, and it is something that we will never approach with current technology, which is why it is often talked about in quantum computing circles, computer theory courses, and physics (as it is a physics theory, at its root). Even with today's laws of physics, you will only be able to (theoretically) get it down to the solid mass of atoms that you could compress into a space, and observing whether or not that atom is vibrating /spinning or not (your binary "on" and "off"). Don't keep up with that aspect of computing, so I am not sure how feasible any of it is, honestly. Where it gets a little more mind-bending is how you would "break" the limit. You would actually need to work around the known laws of physics, and one of those possible workarounds involve phase shifting atoms between parallel universes. So, basically, at any given time, parts of the physical media would exist in this universe, while other parts would be "stored" in a parallel universe, only to be shifted in and out, as needed - or on some sort of regular interval.             • Layman terms. It is impossible (in our reality) to have an infinite amount of data storage because data (even though digital) still physically takes up space. The Worlds grave in destiny is implying the hive have somehow made a collective data storage with infinite space. Ghost was just being fancy while saying "the hive are nerds with a lot of pr0n on their hard drive".

                • Basically the hive were storing all of earths information on a 100TB flash drive and while your ghost was trying to download it he got the "bee" error and was kicked to orbit. That's what your ghost was trying to tell you.
