Is Thorn now the best Hand Cannon?
Debating on this after patch.
Thorn seems pretty beast now, the weakest exotic cannon now the strongest? Willing to wager it's better then Hawkmoon now. What do you guys think? What Hand Cannon do you feel has the title?
What's the best killer!? Both PvE and PvP!
[b]Edit:[/b] I'm not interested in your "legendary cannons because it doesn't use an exotic slot." I agree with that statement, but this is more focusing on the cannons ability to kill shit. That's it.
[b]Edit:[/b] After a few hours doing my own trial of the new and improved Thorn... I'm in love. It might very well be my new favorite cannon. Is it the best? Well I'm not sure to be honest, I like them all and they all feel "the best" in certain situations. Thorn feels awesome and unique and well rounded for any game type. I think it finally deserves that yellow backround and is well worth carrying along side my many other worthy cannons where ever I go.
[b]Edit:[/b] Anyone know what's going to happen to our exclusive guns after DLC lands? Xur shares inventory across all platforms so how do we upgrade Hawkmoon and Monte Carlo?

I would say Thorn is the best in PVP, especially trials. Hawkmoon would be a very close second, however, Thorn has really nice range and the DoT either kills them or keeps their health low for a few extra seconds. PVE wise I would say Fatebringer, but I haven't used hand cannons often for PvE.

1 ReplyEvery time I use either my HM or thorn against another person wielding the opposite we typically go 1 to 1 every time we face in the crucible.. I'd say they're pretty even now

I just got Thorn the other day and I friggin love the thing. its not even fully upradedand its murdering everything on all the planets. Definitley worth the painof the horrible bounty.

7 RepliesI would have to say thorn is slightly better than hawk moon now. The last word needs a damage perk for it to be higher up the list. It's fast but damage is low. I understand damage over time. However the constant reload makes it feel less then legendary. Larger clip or more helpful; higher damage. In the end the thorn wins by a notch then hawk moon. Last word equals last place. Hahahah.

In my opinion thorn is the best hand cannon when used correctly in pvp and pve. Also its a beastly looking gun compared any others, can turn heads in a game and destroy anything that your up against having 300 attack non upgraded. However some would argue that hawkmoon is better than thorn which is a good thing because they are both amazing hand cannons.

5 RepliesI own the hawk moon, thorn, and used to own TLW. Back in the day the thorn only had 6 rounds, slow reload, and not a lot of pizazz about the weapon. The weapon did take skill to use back then. When the exotic buff came around, past owners of the gun who still had it noticed it gained 3 more rounds and a quicker reload. But by that time those few conditioned themselves to using only 6 rounds Now just about everyone runs around using that weapon. To me pre-patch I respected those who used it. Post patch the gun lost all respect from me since EVERYONE IS TRYING TO USE THE WEAPON!! I have never seen such a reliance on the DOT perk. Keep in mind in typing this on my iPhone.

Sold the Monte Carlo upgrade last week so hawkmoon is coming sometime. It can't be that difficult for them to figure out putting certain guns up for specific platforms. I'm sure they're run off of different servers

In close quarters the last word is better because of fan fire but at range I like thorn and hawkmoon it's really just a preference now

I think it is the second best. DOT is so useful. FateBringer is still the best though due to Arc Damage and Firefly.

Love the new thorn but still not better than my hawkmoon. Hawkmoon hits like a freight train. 2nd highest impact only beaten by timurs lash.
