Destiny Misfortune Therapy

I just had the misfortune of accidentally dismantling my Praedyth's Timepiece - a gun that I was very happy to have. After some time brooding and moaning pitifully to my ever-patient girlfriend I have tried engaging in productive thoughts that might help turn a tragedy into a brighter future. I hope this thread will bring us together as a community to help each other through difficult events. What helped me was thinking of this accident as encouraging me to detach myself a bit from the loot system of Destiny. After all, the best parts of this game are coming together and enjoying yourself with some interesting people. Yeah a big part of it is getting cool new stuff to use, but there will always be new stuff to get around the corner. Some might see that as a bad thing since you're never "done" - but it could also be seen as positive in that there's always something to look forward to, so if you lose something you like or gain something you like, ultimately you're still in a similar place and should just try to relax and have fun. I'll have plenty more raids in my career and maybe another Timepiece will drop and maybe it will not. I think the lesson to be drawn from my misfortune is to accept the contingency of these things and not be too attached to what does or doesn't drop. In the end everything should be more enjoyable and less frustrating with this attitude. So please, share your misfortunes and let's see what we can learn from them! It could be anything, like dismantling something you loved yourself, or not getting any raid gear in 10 runs. Let's come together as a community and deal with these frustrations.
