'Smart' matchmaking has been something every game touts as an improvement over its peers. But, honestly, the current system is broken and not fooling anyone. You've gone to great lengths to formulate algorithms (hopefully) that are meant to examine a player and match them with other players with a similar same combat rating.
I'll let you in on a little secret: even matches are not achieved by an average combat rating. Stop pairing low combat rated players with high-rated ones; it does not help anyone improve or make the match more enjoyable. All you're doing is ensuring that one person on each team 'caries' the rest. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the easy kills and matches, but it is oh-so-frustrating to have no back-up or teamwork (read revives and assists), and it doesn't help me get better, nor does it provide an enjoyable experience for the lower-ranked players.
You did it right in Halo 2. You can do it again.

2 RepliesI agree with this, I'm trying to get better at the Crucible but it is a bit difficult at times when I'm just totally out matched.
-
1 ReplyI know its not relevant to your thread, but whats a high combat rating?
-
1 ReplyGlad someone bumped this, it's still a huge problem.
-
2 RepliesMY COMBAT RATING WOULD VASTLY IMPROVE IF ----- THEY WOULD FIX THE GAWDDAMMNED FUGGGIN LAG!!!!
-
3 RepliesAnd then the lower ranked players who get carried get the legendaries and exotics because if I am at the top then I dont need any loot right?
-
2 RepliesCombat rating isn't entirely reliable either way, nooby kills can and do earn u more points than actual skilled kills Special only players can boost theirs easily then spam their supers & noobtubes to inflate it as it stands, its a joke tbh...
-
2 Replies3.0 K/D, 190 CR at Clash. 1.0 W/L. That was proof enough for me.
-
lol i know what you mean last night i had 43 or so kills with around 5000 pts and my team almost lost cause we had 3 players with like 6 kills and 15 maybe more deaths. im like this was one of my best games and i was so close to end in a lose...

I think matchmaking is more to do with connection speed than anything else.
-
1 ReplyBump.

13 RepliesSo they match you by combat rating. I have a 1.5 KD (not the best, not the worst) and my buddy has a .7 KD WE HAVE THE SAME COMBAT RATING I'M 2X AS GOOD AS HIM AND WE HAVE THE EXACT COMBAT RATING BUNGIE HOW COULD YOU SUCK SO BAD
-
6 RepliesMy rating is low yet I carry.

This times 100000000000

True that

4 RepliesThe algorithms used for Halo 2 is Microsoft property, I believe.

1 ReplyIsn't it the same as in Halo 2? Just because they had visible ranks...

Edited by Ryu Knight98: 11/29/2014 12:08:40 AMPower of the Cloud™ Memories of having a Running Riot (15 kills without dying) in Halo: Reach and then matchmaking puts me into a lobby of pros and next thing i know i can't even get one kill...

2 RepliesIts not hard to implement an ELO system for rankings If they did that I wouldnt be stuck with sub 0.25 K/D scrubs when pugging in the crucible, its gone so far as to me making a second account and playing with it; level 16 right now and with my trusty cydonia AR I have well over 2.0 K/D with only access to the basic skills on my noobdancer lolz

1 ReplyYeah I agree, so many Crucible matches aren't even close. It really isn't any fun on the winning side, and it certainly isn't any fun on the losing side.
-
3 RepliesThis is why i couldn't get into Destiny's crucible. Without a discernible matching system it wasnt worth investing time or energy.
