Destiny is the decided fate of an individual. Certain sects of Christianity believe destiny is in god's hands. The antagonist in destiny is the darkness. Therefore guardians must be Christians and fallen, hive, vex, and cabals are heathens and sinners.
See I can make up analogies too! :D

And the sad thing is yours made a better argument. However, for correction, as a Christian believer myself, we don't hate or oppose heathens or sinners or unbelievers. We want to show unbelievers, um, the Light, if you will haha. I'd say for your analogy the Darkness enemies would be evil demons and spirits and the manifestation of evil itself. Just thought I'd let you know. And on a religious note, if there are "Christians" who hate and fight non-believes of the Christian faith, I wouldn't call them brothers of mine.

Didn't mean to seem ignorant, just making a satirical argument. It's good to see, regardless of all the hate religion has been getting, that it doesn't bother them and some are still as accepting as they've always been.
