Engram rewards are luck based because aquisition and reward are both random. Nightfall completion is earning. You completed a hard task which entails for a valuable reward. While some hate 5 strange coins because they have 100+, some also hate weapons because they already have it, cant satisfy everyone. Nightfall rewards are from a pool of items, for doing the hard task you will earn something valuable. Valuable in this case is subjective, as well as the term hard task. Regardless of the randomness of recieving the item itself, you know that by doing nightfall that you will be rewarded for it

either way they r random. xur ensures that ur "crap" rewards r somehow compensated. its a freaking great system. having come from tons of MMOs, i think its a fun system alot of people can enjoy. i still understand why this is a "problem." i repeat, a "problem" to some people. its just a game and its a great system to have people enjoy it with less luck. how diff is this from tokens u earn in some mmorpgs from raids that over time, if u did t get rolls on good gear, guaranteed a crafted epic gear?? again, there r so many things to be worried in the world, and i think this is the most baseless, waste of time rant i have ever seen in a video game. the equivilent of this would be the whole "casual vs hardcore" in other online games. frankly, I used to be a hardcore raider in the past in WoW, FFXI, DAoC, EQ etc, and i came to a conclusion that a game that alot of people can enjoy and have fun is the way to go. not everyone can raid, play hours a day, and especially with the eng system of destiny, have a good chance to enjot fun items in a game. even with xur tho, believe me, there r plenty of items u can show off to say u "earned it." also, i dont have hawkmoon. my friend who i ran nightfall on his level 26 twice got a hawkmoon on second run. clearly "earned" it

Earning doesnt mean u deserve to earn it in destiny. Destiny does not care if u deserve it, in fact if it did, then ot would consider that the 26 doing nightfall earned it much more than a 28. But in destiny now, if you complete the task, you earn a reward. From nightfall, it just happens to come from a loot pool of good items. I raided hardcore for 2 years in Allods and other mmos before that, this system os nothing new, it's just different for the community of shooter fans to adapt to

yeah pretty much what you said. I kind of feel what you said in the last part is very true as well. I never thought about the fact that many of the community members here have FPS backgrounds and zero to none MMO or MMORPGs. The whole bashing of the "farming" thing was really odd to me if you remember that awhile ago (not necessarily the loot cave but farming in general).
