Im interested in what people think about the points Im about to make.
Im finding it increasingly difficult to play a game where the amount of time you have to invest and the rewards you receive (if any at all) Are just not worth it. It was already irritating enough that all the content is just recycled into each other making everything you do repetitive and boring. The only fun I've had after beating the story is just playing with my friends. Had I been a solo player I would have stopped a long time ago.
And its not just that all the tasks are repetitive and boring but also the huge risk of receiving absolutely nothing for the time invested.
Now this story is just the tipping point for me and one example of the point im trying to make.
This might be unique to me but I work and have other things to take care of. By the end of the day I only have a few hours to play, usually that time is taken up endlessly patrolling the same 3 planets to complete bounties for minuscule reputation in some group im trying to get a gun from.
So when things like the iron banner roll around sometimes you have to make sacrifices to be able to compete in a timed event like this. Just the very nature of iron banner is repetitive, doing the same thing, over and over and over. Theres no variety in even the game modes, just control over and over. You inch when it comes to gaining reputation. Losses become very frustrating. The entire event becomes a chore that you HAVE to do because better gear in involved. Its not actually any fun at all.
My personal bad experience came Tuesday morning. I decided to make a dash for rank 4. It took about 4 hours and I made it just intime before everything was supposed to reset. When I went to purchase the gear I wanted at the same time I was hitting puchase the menu collapsed (leaving only the warlock bond and some emblems available for purchase) and because the minute changed over I wasnt able to purchase the gear I was working for.
Thats hours of work for absolutely no reason. Spending an entire week playing something you hated and then getting nothing out of it. And then ontop of this not being able to do any vanguard bounties. I could have literally just not played for a week and I would have made the same progress.
Me and my boyfriend tried to do a weekly strike. (this was before it was scaled) Neither of us are bad players but trying to do the strike at level was impossible. Not challenging, impossible. We spend two hours on it before just giving up. Again time just wasted for nothing. (And this is aside from strikes being the same few missions over again. You dont play them because they're fun you play them because you have to for some reason.)
Vault of glass. Its already hard enough to get 6 people together consistently enough to even attempt the thing, let alone complete it. We are all adults (In my group anyway and i'm sure other groups have similar issues) We all work. We all go to school. An entire week we spent in the vault, come to the end, we wasted an entire day on dealing with glitches that made fighting the boss impossible and we ended up running out of time. Spent a whole week in the vault to get nothing but ascendant material.
If you do get a new gun or a new piece of Ghear. It takes /forever/ to level it. And how do you level it? By doing the same crap over and over again. When you finally level it you need to hope and pray you have enough ascendant material to buy the upgrade. Looking for materials is a chore, leveling is a chore. Everything about every aspect of the game is a chore.
Once you get to level 20 theres no story left (for now) after that its just a giant treasure hunt (where you get mostly nothing any way) Im not really seeing the point of playing anymore.Every aspect of it is repetitive and frustrating.
And thats not saying that the game doesn't have its good aspects it definitely does. And I know there's DLC coming but it didn't take very long to essentially finish the game and I dont think its going to take very long to finish the DLC. Once you do its back to the same repetitiveness. Is it really worth it?
What I would like to see is a significant expansion to the world. None of this constant recycling of the same content. No more horrifying repetitive and boring tasks. And at least making playing the game worth it. Maybe better chances for loot or prizes for failing. Something that makes it so that your time isn't completely wasted.

The new commendations really made this game a lot better...

RNG is the bane. That is all. :)

9 RepliesYou must decide to succeed either in life or this game. The game is a full time job with little reward.

7 Replies[quote] The only fun I've had after beating the story is just playing with my friends. Too bad you could not get IB gloves for your Arcanist. There's always next time. I for one will keep on playing for a while: the recent patch was a step in the right direction IMO. I did not buy the expansion pack like you did, but I'm actually going to buy TDB. For the very reason I quoted from your post.

1 ReplyI want a way to get level 30 gear other than random crap rewards. I don't need five raid leg pieces. I just don't, I need the chest or helmet. I'm tired of getting chatter white. I'm tired of ascendant materials.

20 RepliesThis is how MMOs work. Every person who posts this stuff has clearly never played one. This is the pattern. If you don't like it you wouldn't like WoW or TOR either. And I'm not advocating it or saying it's good or bad. It's just what IS. it's functional and many folks like it.

4 RepliesI played Dragon Age and Far Cry and the only thing I'm going to be doing on Destiny is the weekly strikes to see whatever xur is selling. Other than that, I'm getting on my games with an ACTUAL open world and different things to do than run around, farm and do recycled bounties lol Far cry is especially fun because it's unpredictable with the nature and people walking around. You should invest in one of those games.

3 RepliesWeapons do indeed take time to level but armor not at all. Just do strikes.

3 RepliesI'm confused. Since when does faction rep reset?

Before anyone is a smart ass. I logged in today. I bought the limited edition of the game. Since bungie already had my money I intend to play what I purchased. So we'll see how it goes. Im generally pleased with the patch that was released. If they keep improving the game I can find myself continuing to play. Any new comers please feel free to discuss here what you feel are the problems with the game.

6 RepliesI feel ya lol I lost interest after getting my titan and warlock up there. It's stupid and boring to be forced into a raid to get raid gear! And what's the point of wasting time getting faction, armor when it just gets out dated by raid crap? Its a stupid waste of time honestly

3 RepliesYou're not alone. This game was hyped up high and hit low. I've since moved to DA Inquisition for some actual story. Don't think it'll help you and your b/f. This whole game became a job to me. A repetitive, boring job that isn't paying out (though we've bought in). I haven't seen the AAA in this AAA game yet. I suspect well have to buy the dlc to get anything resembling a AAA experience. Thus far I don't think this game is worth the $60.

1 ReplyGot a little Ranty at the end there. My biggest point was to say that there is a serious lack of content and that the game is more frustrating than fun.
-
6 RepliesThe worst is when you actually get weapons from the raid and have to run in circles farming just to upgrade them from garbage. Here you beat the final boss and now you farm like an idiot.
