This open NAT type stuff is too hard for me. Any other way I can play the game without being booted?

Ever since the update that gave Atheon baby bumpers, I have been disconnecting more and more. Before that update, I counted my blessings as I knew friends who had issues, but I only disconnected a total of 2 times. Within the last week, the disconnects (mostly fly and bee) have becoming very frequent; they have come to a head today as I went home on lunch and couldn't even finish one bounty (3 flys and 2 bees in a half an hour). Last night was pretty bad too (about one per hour) so I thought I'd try to open a port as my Playstation tells me I have NAT type 2. This is not an easy process even if the site Bungie links to claims it is (http://portforward.com/). It's networking inception, and every step along the process leads you into a whole new tutorial (none of which have images that match my setup's). By the time I gave up, I had about 8 tabs open across the top of my screen and I was about 4 tutorials deep, and I'd lost the ability to connect to the internet from my computer (but my Playstation still connected). My decision to give up was based on two things: 1.) I didn't want to screw up my connection with other devices beyond my knowledge to repair, and 2.) the many helpless people on the help forums convinced me it's not my internet's/isp's problem. My question is: should I not give up? Should I try again to follow the rabbit hole of opening a port? Can someone describe the process easier to me? I'd like to think I'm fairly tech savvy, but this is a bit beyond me. I'm not willing to pay for a service or software that does it for me. It would be ridiculous of Bungie to expect any one of us to do that for their game alone. It would be really great if Bungie could just acknowledge that something is wrong and stop all the people with problems from going on this egg hunt of opening a port. I think it's selfish of them to post a 3rd party link anyways. It's like they couldn't be bothered to write a tutorial for the issues their game is causing. It also seems that they don't want to have any responsibility for people like me who damage their existing setup just trying to get their game to work. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. TL:DR - I'm having the same problems as everyone else and the processes of opening a port is too difficult for me to do.

You don't need to port forward to any specific port, you just need to open them up. What are your router and modem models? What ISP do you use. Also, it makes more sense from a business aspect to link to the authority on port forwarding and router troubleshooting. There are hundreds of models, that site already has all the guides.

    • Call your Internet provider they should be able to do it for you at their office. Or even come out to do it if necessary

      • I'm pretty sure it's not on your end. We all have those issues and in most of the cases it's not our internet connection. I guess you can play all other games without troubles, if so changing your network connection will not help. They just did a weak job on their servers.
