Sorry, but not seeing the level advantage I'm supposed to have. I'm one upgrade from level 30. I can understand 29s and 28s being competitive. Maybe even 27s. But when I'm getting killed by 23s and 24s with one melee or a couple shots from a weapon. Maybe I misunderstood, but i got the impression that anything 3 levels below me or lower would find it "challenging" to kill me. I'm just not seeing the advantage. We've had several games where I see level 25s and 26s leading lobbies in total kills, even with level 30s on the other team. So this "power is everything" is a bunch of garbage.

2 RepliesThe level advantages are definitely there. As a level 30 any sticky grenade will not one shot kill me if thrown by a player level 28 or below. I've also seen people need 2 golden gun shots to kill me or 3 arc blade slashes. And I have survived a nova bomb. The level advantages aren't there to make it so if you're level 30 you are god and nobody can kill you. It just makes it slightly easier for you to kill lower levels, and harder for them to kill you. You still need to be a skilled player to compete in iron banner. I personally think bungie did a terrific job this time around with iron banner. That's coming from someone who hated the last iron banner.

I took my 24 Bladedancer into IB, takes 2 arcblade strikes to kill 29-30s, grenades pretty much 1 hit you, machine guns 2 hit you, if you don't get the jump you have no chance. Go try it yourself at 24 if you think there's little advantage

There's definitely a big advantage I've played as a 26,27,28 going from none upgraded weapons to max. My shotgun isn't maxed and I can't tell you the amount of times I've blasted someone in the chest point blank range and they survive with the tiniest bit of health left when I'm dead, or my favourite- shoulder charging as a titan and 30s just laughing it off and killing me straight after. I don't understand how you can be 30 and be complaining, take your gear off and play and you will see the problem is you not the IB. (Don't forget if the level 25 has a maxed weapon he can drop you just as quick as a 30). I'm not complaining though I love the IB even if I'm at a slight disadvantage being 28, I still rock the top of the leaderboard.

I sure don't claim to be a great player, but I can hold my own usually. Any other game I've ever played, I can carry about 1.3 to 1.5 k/d.
-
Level matters... My titan was 28/29 depending on gear and shoulder charging a lvl 30 left the dude with a sliver of health.
-
I can see that. I've definitely seen some lag. Especially when two players kill each other with melee. That is so ridiculous. But yeah, Microsoft ain't helping.
-
I've been obliterated and seen the same happen to 30's by a 24 with a Shingen. They didn't make your gear important enough clearly.

Yes 30 has more armor and will do more damage to lower levels, but you still have to have skill to win. Just because you go into a lobby as the highest level doesn't automatically make you a great player. Yes, I've seen a 24 on my team dominate and have over a 2.0, but I've also been shoulder charged by a 24 survived and killed him. So level definitely matters, you just need the skill to back it up.

Yeah I don't know if it's bungies fault though. I've noticed all the people that I've had trouble killing as a lvl 30 have been the ones with poor connection I've even seen an enemy take 3 guys suros to the head and run away. I think microsofts poor connection lately is almost making some kids have a lag switch effect

I agree it is better than the previous Iron Banner. But I don't "feel" the advantage. As a 30 warlock, not once today have I gotten a melee kill with one strike, even against 24-26s. I don't want to be "God" and unkillable as you say, but when I'm in a battle and having to throw 3 punches and a grenade to kill another player, and sometimes a few bullets for good measure, I think it's a little ridiculous. I actually had a level 28 catch a locked-on rocket from a Gjallahorn launcher and did not die from it. I still had to shoot him.

You're not wrong

I'm level 30 now and still takes me 2-3 melee strike to kill. And I'm getting one-shotted by level 25s and 26s. It should take more than one bullet to kill a lvl 30 under the Iron Banner "rules".
-
I went in with a maxed suros and Vex on my level 20 and was killing everyone, if they didn't shoot me.... However they cut me down within seconds and I didn't have a chance if we saw head to head. So iron banner does make a difference this time around.

My level 29 warlock ate 2 shots from a golden gun from a level 22. The level advantage is there.
-
But I read online that level advantages are in effect so it HAS to be true!

Edited by Wami: 11/21/2014 12:13:40 AMNot true Im a 25 and to kill a 30 i need to do: 3 hunter mellee's 2 rockets (straight at him) 6 or 7 bullets from a maxed suros But most of the time im still leading lobbies Because people cant aim straight
