Hello guardians. Today, I want to bring up the aspect of what truly is the definition of camping, as opposed to playing smart or playing tactically.
Consider the following scenario:
I am using the MIDA multi-tool--and exotic scout rifle effective from medium to long range playing on the map on earth that looks like some old ruins (I forget the name of the map, but you get my point) in a game of clash (TDM). Say I were to get shot by someone using an auto rifle, such as the suros regime and they get my shields down. Is running away from that engagement, putting some distance between me and my attacker, waiting for my shields to recharge while crouched in a corner, then promply 4 shorting the other player in the head considered a "campy" tactic?
One such player did...I did it about 5 straight times to him, and he rage quit before the game.
Anyways, I ask this question because as a player that has a big background playing battlefield, I am surprised to see soooo many people with such an aggressive play style. I am used to drawn out firefights, and, especially in a game such as destiny where you have shields, i anticipated firefights between people to be a little better played out. I also didn't expect people lashing out at me for playing a little more passively than most, as is my playstyle. This is literally the only game I've ever played where I've been called a camper, so I want to see what the community's input is.
Your guys' thoughts?

I think of camping as someone hanging out in one spot the whole match, ignoring the objective, and waiting for someone to run across their line of fire. "Tactical holding" is more along the lines of taking an objective, defending an objective, or hanging back a sec to regenerate health.

It I get killed, he was camping. If I get a kill, I'm using amazing tactics. My logic is the best logic nerf everyone but me.

It's "Tactically holding my position". This is when your team is maintaining map control on key territories or positions. Camping is not holding a position. It's using a cheap cover spot with no intention of ever moving. It is not used for a tactical reason, to hold a territory, but rather just to kill, grief, and technically be a coward. There is a big difference.

In the army we called this an ambush. Although I'm a victim of "campers" it's a legit tactic. IMHO.

Camping is where someone hides in 1 spot generally a corner where there is only 1 direction that the player has to look and they wait until an enemy happens to come too close before they attack. Defending is where someone takes a strategic position that gives them a vantage over an area where they can defend an objective or put pressure on the defense of that objective. The purpose of defending is not to sit in one place but to move in a general area to defend a larger swath of a map then a normal player is able to.

Thats not camping, noobs just got rekt. Destiny is a much faster game. With the supers the way they are the way heavy weapons spawn, and the unlimited special weapons creates that run and gun atmosphere. Plus the bounties dont help
